On August 10, 2014 the Cisco company announced a release of the new version of Cisco Connected Transportation.

As a part of the solution Cisco Connected Transportation:

• Cisco Connected Station is numerous station networks and the systems of retail integrate in the standardized IP network. Businessmen and advertisers have an opportunity to work directly with the station, to provide information to passengers, to create new business models and to open new sources of income. Thanks to position fix accuracy using the integrated data of network and GPS there are messages about changes in the schedule quicker that helps passengers to plan the time. The surveillance cameras located on platforms integrated by a management system allow drivers to stop the train at stations in the place which is strictly allocated for this purpose, to provide optimal disembarkation and landing and to quickly resolve the issues relating to security and health of passengers and personnel of the train.

• Cisco Connected Trackside is the infrastructure IP platform in the protected execution. It is intended for support of operational services, cutting of costs for operation of network and reduction of complexity to closed (proprietary) of outdated networks. Using the data obtained from a sensor network and analyzed by the system of indistinct calculations Cisco, the driver makes the thought-over decisions helping to avoid incidents. The systems of indistinct calculations (fog computing) are capable to make the analysis in real time and to decide what data are transferred back to a cloud and what are discarded or go to storage. Thanks to the fact that the driver receives a signal of a rejection of data from normal values the response time is reduced, bandwidth is saved, the overview and control improve.

• Cisco Connected Train - high-speed network Cisco Connected Train is created on the basis of small-size switches and routers in industrial execution which provide support mobile consumer and business services not to the detriment of performance and security. The network also supports a video surveillance system with the selected registrars in each car which store archives of video received from onboard IP cameras. At the request of the operator the image from all cameras can be transferred to central control.

• Cisco Positive Train Control is the system developed using partner technologies, prevents collisions of trains, the derailment and other railway incidents connected with a human factor. In the Cisco PTC system are integrated onboard, traveling (trackside, wayside), signal and dispatching (back-office) of a system. Though application of the PTC system is obligatory only on the railroads of the USA, safety of railway transport is strictly regulated around the world. To conform to local security requirements, operators in other countries can use the same technologies. According to Federal association of the railroads of the USA, 95% of incidents from the death are caused by human errors. The Cisco Positive Train Control system is capable to define location and speed of the train and to strengthen the security measures undertaken by the driver. If requirements of a system are ignored or their accomplishment by the driver is impossible, PTC will automatically include braking for deceleration to the recommended speed or a complete stop of the train.
