2016: Announcement
In November 2016, it became known that the holding "Roselektronika" is developing an apparatus that has no analogues in Russia for the rapid diagnosis of glaucoma. Its appearance on the market is scheduled for 2018.
A complex called "Criterion," designed for early diagnosis and monitoring of the glaucomatous process during dispensary observation, provides testing of the condition of pupils in no more than one minute in healthy people, and in patients in no more than 1.5 minutes.
The duration of processing test data, formulating a preliminary diagnosis and its inclusion in a single database does not exceed 10 minutes. The equipment is designed for continuous operation for at least 20 hours.
"Criterion" is being developed by St. Petersburg JSC "Research Institute of Television" (part of "Roselectronics") in cooperation with the Military Medical Academy named after Kirov. A basic solution is created, the functionality of which can be enhanced depending on the terms of use. It is planned to release the complex on the market in 2018.
Roselectronika claims that Criterion was the first medical device of its kind to be developed in Russia. It is very important, given that by November 2016, worldwide, according to various sources, there are from 60.5 million to 105 million glaucoma patients with the prospect of an increase of 10 million in subsequent years. In Russia, about 1.2 million such patients are officially registered.
Glaucoma is one of the most common causes of blindness. At the initial stage of development, the patient may not pay attention to stealthy symptoms, but their increase gradually leads to irretrievable loss of vision. In the treatment of glaucoma, speed and early diagnosis of the disease is important.[1]
