2022: dBrain Platform Market Entry

On November 17, 2022, Cloud Atlas announced the entry into the market of the dBrain containerized cloud platform, which the developers are positioning as a full-fledged domestic replacement for Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform services . The dBrain structure includes the Kubernetes environment, software-defined Ceph storage, dBrain Console, monitoring system, logging system, S3 storage. The dBrain platform is included in the Unified Register of Russian programs for electronic computers and databases.

dBrain

According to the company, dBrain is a domestic alternative to the Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform and solves the problem of enterprises transferring and saving their software to another platform, but with a set of familiar backup and backup services.

dBrain allows Russian companies to have a local infrastructure of proper quality and not depend on the external environment. dBrain is suitable for developers to move microservices from public clouds to private infrastructure, carriers to build public clouds, and companies with certain requirements for system resiliency and data retention.

dBrain

The dBrain platform can be deployed on bare hardware, virtual machines, in a private or public cloud, as well as on hybrid infrastructure.

A distinctive feature of dBrain is the dBrain Console dashboard. It optimizes the creation and management of information systems, automates the operation of the Kubernetes cluster.

dBrain structure

In a separate web interface dBrain Console, you can:

  • Create/delete microservices
  • Modify specific microservice settings
  • Optimize the disk space allocated to the microservice
  • solve the problems of operation of microservices.

Platform specificity:

  • dBrain is independent of the server manufacturer;
  • There is no role allocation for servers when running dBrain (any role installation for existing servers)
  • Platform deployment without Internet connection is possible using the MAAS server.

dBrain supports multiple creation of Kubernetes clusters, allows you to install and configure the following services:

  • Cassandra (distributed DBMS, which is designed to create scalable storage of data arrays).
  • Clickhouse (column analytical DBMS, performs analytical queries online on structured big data).
  • Kafka (distributed messaging system, the components of which are contained on several nodes. The system is responsible for processing and transmitting messages).
  • MongoDB (document-oriented DBMS, does not require a description of the table schema. It can be launched in High-Availability mode: Replica Set and Sharded Cluster).
  • PostgreSQL (relational DBMSs, the functionality of which is implemented using wal-g).
  • Redis (a resident DBMS of the NoSQL class, used as a cache or temporary data store with fast access and rare writing to disk).
  • Keyclock (unified authorization role-playing system).
  • Integrated logging system.
  • Integrated monitoring system and distributed tracing system.

The dBrain platform has a technology stack up to date for November 2022, constantly updating services, the ability to administer the platform and launch a large number of services without the need to maintain its own DevOps and NetOps, the optimal level of technical support. In addition, platform developers can add the service the client needs if necessary.
