- Area of the technology hall of commercial data center (DPC) of 900 sq.m
The Russian cellular operator VimpelCom is going to transfer the data processing centers (DPC) from Moscow to Yaroslavl that will allow the company to save from 30 to 40% of operating expenses on support of DPCs. By 2017 all IT infrastructure of the operator intended for the centralized customer service will be transferred to the uniform technical center which is already under construction in Yaroslavl. He will undertake loading of all capital DPCs, the representative of the company Anna Aybasheva told Vedomosti.
According to madam Aybasheva, difficult and expensively to expand the Moscow DPCs, these difficulties are not compensated even by the developed capital infrastructure therefore the decision with Yaroslavl was made.
At the first stage till 2014 investments into the Yaroslavl DPC made 1 billion rubles. The cost of all project can be about 4 billion rubles, Mikhail Bodyagin considers iKS-Consulting.
It should be noted that not only VimpelCom transfers a part of a production infrastructure to regions. So, the [1] online store in 2005 transferred call center and the main warehouses from Moscow to Tver.
VimpelCom completed in the spring of 2012 discussion of parts of the large-scale project of construction of a modular data processing center in the Yaroslavl region, Russia. This new data center will be under construction on technologies of the Spanish firm AST Modular. This big data center, commissioning of its first module is appointed to the beginning of 2013. It will consist of 6 specialized modular premises of 3000 square meters, at the same time each module will contain up to 1200 racks with the equipment.
In data center the technology of ambient free cooling (freecooling) of AST Modular company with the expected PUE 1.09 coefficient will be applied. This technology will allow VimpelCom to reduce considerably energy consumption and to reach the high levels of security and reliability by warning of pollution of an air flow.
The modular construction offered AST provides the certified protection against fire, water, temperature influences, and unauthorized invasion and also corresponds to all critical parameters of the European and international standards. Each module can be filled quickly with the IT equipment and to put independently into operation and not to wait for completion of construction of all object. In fact, this data center intended for satisfaction of future requirements of VimpelCom for expansion, and, thus, will allow to reduce initial capital costs to a minimum.
It will be the first modular data center of VimpelCom which will fill up a portfolio of the company which consists of 16 stationary data centers with a total area of 17.000 square meters which are in Moscow in the Far East, in Siberia, in the Urals and in the Volga region.
The model of construction of modular data center offered AST Modular is very flexible and answers tasks of the company of reduction of operating costs and simultaneous reduction of time of construction and energy consumption of data center, Vitaly Zadorozhny, the director of department of operational risks in VimpelCom added.
AST Modular works on project implementation together with the Russian partner, LANIT company. Valery Shinkaruk, the vice president of LANIT and Henry Daunert, the CEO of AST Modular made the following joint statement: 'We open a new era in construction of data processing centers in Russia. Our building block solution is scalable and environmentally friendly, and it reduces product output time for the market. Today the modularity seems to some of the most perspective approaches in the field of hi-tech data centers in Russia'.
2014: NVision Group carried out certification of DPC of VimpelCom to Uptime Institute
In the fall of 2014 experts of NVision Group carried out certification of DPC of the Yaroslavl technical center JSC VimpelCom. The international organization of The Uptime Institute confirmed compliance of DPC to the Tier III level.
Specialists of NVision Group implemented the consulting project: collected, analyzed and prepared project and operational documentation on the different systems of a complex. For obtaining the certificate on compliance to the Tier III level it was required to prove that crucial components of infrastructure have reservation according to the scheme not below, than N+1. Such level of reservation not only guarantees uninterrupted operation of operation of the equipment, but also allows to hold upgrade and planned repair and preventive events without stopping of services. Representatives of the expert organization The Uptime Institute confirmed that the DPC completely corresponds to the class Tier III.
"In the Russian market interest in certification of data centers grows. Several years ago the companies did not see in it need, however the competition does the part. If there was enough earlier the fact that separate elements of DPC were executed taking into account requirements of the TIA 942 standard, then now the largest players are interested in passing of the procedure of certification in the international expert organization The Uptime Institute. Our specialists carried out already several certifications of platforms of the Russian telecom operators. The confirmed compliance to requirements of international standards increases attractiveness of the services deployed based on data centers and, therefore, competitiveness of DPC", - Schukin Vladimir, the deputy CEO for sales of NVision Group notes.
Besides, experts of NVision Group developed and created the system of regular power supply of data center in Yaroslavl. On the platform of VimpelCom the rare equipment of the German company Piller for Russia is used. Each module of DPC is provided two the diesel - the 2 MW dynamic power stations. It should be noted that they are much more eco-friendly than the traditional accumulator systems as do not require expensive and technology difficult procedure of utilization of accumulators.
