2017: Delivery of Microsoft Azure services

On November 30, 2017 PJSC MTS and Microsoft announced start of a public hybrid cloud for corporate clients on the Microsoft Azure Stack platform in Russia.

The integrated Microsoft Azure Stack system will allow business clients to create modern hybrid applications with capacity utilization of local DPCs of MTS and a global cloud of Microsoft Azure. At the same time the Russian customers will be able to select the place of installation of virtual machines and data storage – from the or partner data center in the territory of the country or in a global cloud.

The technology allows to use products with observance of requirements to the security level of IT systems, to provide the high speed of a response of applications. Service is followed by the maximum level of technical support both from vendors of the equipment, and from experts of Microsoft corporation.

Microsoft Azure services at capacities of MTS and Azure Stack will become available to the Russian clients in commercial operation since the beginning of 2018. MTS will provide services similar to global Azure with localization in Russia – IaaS, PaaS, Big Data, different types of storages, hybrid options of reserve failsafe virtual DPCs, lease of licenses and other services.

2014: Opening of DPC

The telecom operator Mobile TeleSystems (MTS) opened in the spring of 2014 in Moscow own data processing center (DPC). The company does not disclose project cost. Investments of MTS into construction of new DPC made about 600 million rubles. In the closest two-three years of MTS considers the possibility to scale the project to the cities-milionniki where can provide to corporate clients up to 500 racks.

The total area of data center in Moscow is 1500 square meters on which 180 racks are placed. The area of a commercial part of the center is 400 square meters. On it more than 100 racks for placement of the equipment of clients are located. As declared in MTS, input in a system of the Moscow DPC increased a cumulative resource of power of the data processing centers of MTS across all Russia located also in Samara, Nizhny Novgorod, Novosibirsk and Vladivostok by 60%. In general, the total power of DPCs which now MTS has six is about 5.8 MW, the level of fault tolerance of TIER III+.

It, in turn, gave the chance of MTS to open the new direction of business — provision of services on leasing of capacities of own data centers in Moscow and a number of regions. The company is ready to provide corporate to clients services which can be demanded by banks, payment systems, online stores, content - and hosting providers, social networks, application developers.

Clients can receive a number of services of data processing based on DPCs of MTS, including lease of servers with providing channels of access to the Internet from speeds up to 10 Gbit/c.

The company intends to provide to corporate clients new services in addition to the mobile and fixed Internet access, telephony, telematic M2M-products, technologies of the protected data transmission. Own fiber lines of communication of MGTS of the GPON standard in Moscow allow to provide to capital consumers stable and wide Internet access channels.
