Domestic technology of underwater hydrocarbon production

Product
Developers: Gazprom, Rosatom
Branches: Gas industry,  Mineral extraction,  Oil industry

Rosatom and Gazprom are going to create domestic technology of underwater hydrocarbon production. About it in February, 2016 the director of VNIIEFValentin Kostyukov at a meeting told about the Russian information and supercomputer technologies with Dmitry Medvedev's participation, follows from the materials published on the website of the government.

The technology will include the domestic underwater equipment and the industrial control system and preparation of chemical compositions. This complex should provide hydrocarbon production on the shelf, including all stages of lifecycle: from arrangement before operation and maintenance.

Rosatom notes that still Russian market of production of the capital equipment for underwater mastering of fields is provided, mainly, by foreign suppliers. Among the largest - the American companies FMC Technologies, One Subsea, Vetco Gray and the Norwegian Aker Solutions.

The equipment for deep oil and gas production since August, 2014 - in the list of technologies which are prohibited to delivery to Russia in connection with sanctions of the USA against the Russian companies of the oil and gas industry. In addition, Washington imposed a ban on supply of equipment for development of the Arctic shelf and slate oil and gas reserves.

The southern Kirinsky field on the shelf of the Sea of Okhotsk found by Gazprom in 2010 should become the first where the domestic complex created by Gazprom and Rosatom will be applied to underwater hydrocarbon production.

By 2020 the companies are going to develop technology of installation, adjustment and operation of an underwater production complex at the bottom of the sea, by 2021 – to complete production of the equipment of an underwater production complex, and in 2023 - to begin with its help production on the Southern Kirinsky field in the mode of trial operation.

As envisioned by Gazprom and Rosatom, the domestic complex will cost about 30% cheaper than foreign analogs at comparable technical characteristics.

Creation of a domestic complex will promote ensuring power and economic stability of Russia, note in Rosatom. The company is also sure that the complex will have the high export potential.
