2023: Product Announcement
On December 14, 2023, the Google Cloud cloud platform announced the release of Duet AI for Developers, a specialized public developer toolkit based on generative artificial intelligence. This open toolkit will help programmers write, supplement and optimize code.
The Duet AI for Developers Assistant is available in several integrated development environments used to write, test, compile, and deploy code. These include Cloud Shell Editor, Cloud Workstations, IntelliJ, PyCharm and Visual Studio Code. The AI assistant supports more than 20 programming languages, including C, C++, Go, Java, JavaScript and Python.
It is noted that Duet AI for Developers provides all the functions and capabilities that programmers expect to receive from the AI assistant, including the chat interface and code completion. Moreover, users can request the necessary information directly in their development environment - without the need to interrupt the process of writing code: programmers can quickly go to a chat with an AI assistant, ask a question or request code, and then immediately return to the task.
In addition to performing generative functions, the assistant will be able to explain to programmers the existing code fragments, which will be useful if they have just received a project that other developers previously worked on. The AI assistant can also create test cases directly from the code. All Duet services will use Gemini, Google's largest and most efficient AI model, which includes advanced reasoning and complex coding. Users will be able to customize models using their own code bases to get specific results.[1]
