2022: Updated Paint Chamber Design EcoProBooth

On January 21, 2022, Dürr introduced the updated design of the painting chamber EcoProBooth, which allows you to increase and modernize production without stops.

EcoProBooth

According to the company, the solution combines the modular principle of layout and the autonomy of production lines and allows simultaneously conducting internal and external painting in one box. This gives an appropriate level of scalability and flexibility, previously achievable exclusively in small-scale production conditions. This concept of the Dürr chamber ensures proper energy efficiency. Compared to conventional dry separation lines, EcoProBooth technology reduces energy consumption and reduces CO2 emissions by about 40%, and for wet cleaning systems, savings reach 75%.

For example, a conventional 60-operation-per-hour integrated primer-free painting process (eight base coating stations and six transparent coating stations divided between two hard lines by 30 operations per hour each) is transformed into five parallel EcoProBooth lines, each of which has one base coating station and one transparent coating station. Thus, fourteen work areas are converted into ten boxes. Each line has independent control and it can be started and stopped without stopping others.

Productivity growth has also been achieved due to the ability to optimally distribute bodies to EcoProBooth cameras. As a result, time losses in the operation cycle remain in the past due to different volumes of painting tasks (for example, when applying the color "metallic" or single-tone painting) or when painting bodies of different types. The cycle time no longer depends on the maximum volume of paint applied, since in each chamber at the same time there is painting of cars of any type - from compact to SUVs. All cameras have standard sizes and design. Due to this, they can be converted or increased their capacity, without affecting the work of neighboring cameras.

EcoProBooth

The painting robot conducts internal and external body painting in each box using the selected coating technology corresponding to a specific task. The universal EcoBell4 Pro Ux spray of the last generation provides appropriate quality of painting, and only four robots on one boxing allow to use its efficiency. All painting operations are integrated within the same chamber, which minimizes the time spent redirecting bodies between workstations during internal and external painting.

Maintenance compartments are another factor that ensures the non-stop operation of the system: they are located at the corners of the chamber and fresh air is continuously supplied through them to the chamber. As a result, the personnel are free to enter the chamber without respirators and clean or TE the sprayers and tools without stopping the painting process. At the same time, the volume of work on cleaning the camera units is known in advance: it depends on their pollution levels, which are recorded using the DXQ software from Dürr.

Durr (Dürr) managed to reduce the size of the chamber due to its modular design. In the described example, the volume flow rate of process air is about 20% lower than usual. In addition, the modular approach minimized power consumption and reduced CO2 emissions and operating costs.

Due to low power consumption with a 95:5 ratio of recirculation air to fresh air, an appropriate percentage of air recirculation is achieved in the EcoProBooth. This means that 5% of the fresh air is added to the process air, which comes directly from the clean room without using an additional air supply system. The painting chamber is equipped with a system for separating overflow EcoDryScrubber the latest generation. Immediately after the paint particles are removed from the air of the chamber, it is reconditioned in the adjacent air circulation unit, which reduces power consumption and costs. EcoDryScrubber purifies almost twice as much air as previous models, and it is equipped with only one filter stage per module. Due to compactness, the filter stage fits into the design of the box. Compared to the traditional dry separation system, Dürr reduced electricity consumption by 40%, and for paint lines with wet cleaning to 75%.

The updated concept of the Dürr painting chamber meets the market needs of production, as it ensures the efficient use of resources. By reducing the consumption of process air and achieving an appropriate percentage of its recycling, energy consumption and CO2 emissions have been minimized. The intelligent design of the chamber reduces the consumption of materials by minimizing losses when changing the color of the paint. Splitting production lines into short boxes allows you to distribute painting operations.
