EMC CloudArray is the integrated cloud storage system expanding the capacity of high-performance arrays with inexpensive cloud resources.
On May 19, 2015 EMC announced release of a packet of systems management of data storage.
CloudArray simplifies data protection on remote platforms, providing access to public and private clouds by means of standard interfaces and also managing storage of inactive data.
The product helps to distribute data on levels from platform VMAX3 in a cloud or in object-oriented storage, reducing costs for infrastructure due to data movement by cheaper platforms. The CloudArray technology can be used for backup of crucial data or other information, it provides speed of access, allowing customers to use scaling options of clouds, to reduce costs and to reduce need for service.
The software-defined storage system of CloudArray helps to upgrade storage strategy of data.
It helps:
- to instantly use the new level of cloud resources of storage which on performance and transparency does not concede to local;
- observe all requirements to local and external resources of storage, having completely refused a tape;
to automatically replicate data in a private or public cloud.
As a result the simple solution for data storage which is not needing administration is received.
CloudArray offers almost unlimited level of storage in one packet. Cloud resources are provided as the iSCSI or NAS device (under the CIFS or NFS protocol) that does CloudArray compatible practically with all applications. All data loaded into CloudArray: files, the basic, reserve or contemporary records, automatically remain in a cloud, and politicians of dynamic caching increase performance.
It is possible to store the partial or complete copy of data with a cloud in a local disk cache of CloudArray. The intellectual manager of policy of caching allows to set precisely what amount of data from each volume to store in a cache memory. This parameter reduces traffic between the local platform and a cloud and also provides maximum capacity.

A system is installed in several minutes. Software configuration of the physical or virtual device CloudArray takes minutes. It is quickly connected to the operating infrastructure — to storage systems with direct connection, to storage area networks and network DWH and also more than to 20 cloud platforms of storage. CloudArray is controlled via the intuitive web interface and the portal.
For data protection in a cloud of CloudArray uses 256-bit enciphering of AES. Metadata are ciphered using separate key set of AES-256. Keys are stored locally on the CloudArray device, but not in a cloud together with data. It minimizes a possibility of unauthorized access.
To save data view at a certain point in time, CloudArray is offered by the scheduler of instant pictures and a management system for storage lives. CloudArray creates instant pictures directly in a cloud, without loading the local systems and bandwidth. In comparison with traditional complete backup copies compact instant pictures occupy 20 times less spaces. They reduce requirements to capacity and at the same time provide continuous data protection on the remote cloud platform.

CloudArray minimizes load of network using technologies of reduction of amounts of data and the exact scheduler of bandwidth who limits the volume of information moved to a cloud. Thus, you can regulate loading of bandwidth according to business needs.
