2025: Launching
On November 1, 2025, an oil and refuse collection vessel, called Eco-1 and related to the NE028 project, was launched in Petrozavodsk. Work on this series, consisting of two units, is being carried out at the Onega Shipbuilding and Ship Repair Plant (OSZ) by order of FSUE Rosmorport.
As indicated on the official website of the plenipotentiary representative of the President of the Russian Federation in the North-West Federal District, the ship is capable of performing its functions at a water temperature of up to 0 degrees and can also move in ice cover conditions up to 0.4 meters thick. The Eco-1 is 15.5 m long and 6 m wide. Vladivostok will become the ship's home port, and its crew consists of two people.
As the Minister of Economic Development of Karelia Anton Fokin noted at the Eco-1 launch ceremony, the ship will perform a significant environmental function: to collect and transport floating waste, as well as assist in eliminating the consequences of freelance leaks of oil products in port waters and coastal areas. Fokin stressed the importance of having a modern domestic fleet for the development of the shipbuilding industry and ensuring the country's technological leadership, addressing congratulations to everyone involved and wishing new success to Russian shipbuilding.
According to the press service of the plenipotentiary representative of the President of the Russian Federation in the North-West Federal District, the support of the head of Karelia Artur Parfenchikov and the regional government, as well as the work of the state commission created to celebrate the centenary of the republic, played an important role in the modernization of the OSZ production facilities. In addition to specialized vessels for collecting oil wastes, three ice-class tugboats, two icebreakers with a small draft and six shalands for soil removal are in the process of construction at the OSZ.[1]
