2023: Product Announcement

In early January 2023, Canadian startup Gluxkind introduced the Ella AI Powered smart pram with autopilot and remote control. The smart device helps parents while walking, but will not carry the child inside the stroller without adults.

The Ella AI Powered smart stroller has many of the same technologies as autonomous cars and delivery robots, including a dual-engine system for climbing and automatic braking on descents. The stroller's built-in autopilot technology has sensors that detect surrounding items - but it is meant to serve as "an extra pair of eyes and an extra pair of hands," the company's website says, rather than replacing the carer.

Ella AI Powered (smart pram)

The entire system in Ella AI Powered features a car seat, baby cradle and toddler seat. The stroller is able to independently control itself on walks without the hands of older users, but only when the child is not inside. The device uses cameras to monitor the environment and navigate sidewalks. The smart stroller is equipped with sensors for detecting surrounding objects, a battery for many hours of walking, a twin-engine system for moving uphill. Ella AI Powered can move next to the owner of the device, for example, when one of the parents carries the child in his arms.

Gluxkind provides access to a mobile application and cloud service that monitors the presence of Ella AI Powered and provides additional options - detecting surrounding objects using on-board video cameras, navigating sidewalks and paths, automatic wobbling functions and a white noise generator for motion sickness of a child in the device.

The cost of the robotic pram is $3,300, the total weight of the Ella AI Powered is 13.60 kg. Deliveries of the smart stroller will begin in April 2023, according to the company's website Gluxkind.[1]
