Brand Protection is a set of work on round-the-clock monitoring, notification and response to cases of misuse of brands on the Internet. During the response, the brand's copyright holder is provided with legal protection, including the removal of illegal content, the elimination of phishing or fraudulent sites and the prosecution of computer attackers.

According to Group-IB, as of July 2019, the emergence of an independent Brand Protection direction within the framework of a set of products and services for responding to and investigating information security incidents has become a natural response to a constant increase in the number of targeted attacks on corporate brands present on the Internet.

Open Brand Protection

On September 28, 2017, Group-IB, an international company for the prevention and investigation of cybercrime and high-tech fraud, announced the opening of Brand Protection. Its specialists will be responsible for monitoring and preventing economic crime and brand fraud.

As you know, brands attract not only buyers, but also cyber fraudsters. According to the company, since 2013, Group-IB has eliminated more than 35 thousand violations related to illegal use of the brand, and the number of detected fraudulent pages is growing annually: in 2016 alone, the Group-IB response center blocked 14 thousand fraudulent pages using brands of various companies. These include clone sites, phishing pages, the sale of counterfeit products, fake mobile applications, fake social media accounts, illegal contextual advertising.
