In mid-August 2022, it became known about the appearance in FamilyMart stores in Japan of TX SCARA obots, which were created by Telexistence. They will be engaged in replenishing goods on shelves and monitoring their availability.
The robots will initially appear in 300 stores in the chain. Robotic complexes are controlled using artificial intelligence, they will be able to independently move around the store. True, operators will still be able to connect remotely to them.
In Japan, as of August 2022, there is a lack of personnel who would agree to work in this area. It is assumed that such robots can replace human labor in 98% of cases due to the fact that this will make it possible to free up some of the employees in order to improve the quality of service for store visitors. At the same time, the retail network will pay not only for the robots themselves, but also for support by remote operators.
{{quote 'First of all, we solve this problem with the help of convenience stores - a huge network that supports everyday life, especially in Japan, but faces a shortage of labor. The penetration of robots into all spheres of human life is inevitable and the replacement of humans with them is only a matter of time. This shift is predetermined by a second wave of automation that concentrates on artificial cognition, cheap sensors, machine learning and distributed intelligence, said Telexistence CEO Jin Tomioka. }} Robots use the cloud service cloud service Microsoft Azure and the Jetson platform Nvidia based on. AI Representatives of FamilyMart say that robots will be able to facilitate human labor, as well as make the store more debugged. If the project can be implemented according to the plan, then they plan to expand it. At the next stage, TX SCARA robots should be introduced in 150 thousand American supermarkets.[1]
