2025: Product Announcement
The Russian company ZALA has developed an autonomous communication and navigation system "Geokosmos," which operates independently of satellite and mobile networks. The new complex is designed to ensure reliable operation of aircraft systems in the absence or suppression of traditional communication channels. The presentation of the technology took place on August 14, 2025.
According to the press service of the ZALA group of companies, the innovative development was presented at an international forum in Moscow. The system completely eliminates reliance on external communication and positioning sources, which is critical for flight safety.
The technological basis of Geocosmos is ground-based software-defined communication systems in combination with onboard equipment. These components form their own distributed secure network operating over a wide frequency range. The architecture of the system guarantees stable secure communication and high information transfer rate.
A unique algorithm allows accurate determination of the coordinates of the system participants even when using the signal of a single base station. Increasing the number of stations significantly improves positioning accuracy and widens the coverage area. Each element of the deployed system serves as a signal repeater for other members of the network.
Relay architecture significantly increases the coverage of communication and navigation, while increasing the overall reliability of the system. Both ground stations and on-board devices participate in the retransmission process, creating a self-sustaining communication network.
The Geocosmos complex supports the joint use of various types of aircraft in a single airspace. The system ensures the interaction of both unmanned and manned aircraft, opening up new opportunities for integrated air traffic control.[1]
