HPE ProLiant DL60 and DL80 Gen9 - a line of servers with the optimized architecture

On March 5, 2016 the Hewlett-Packard Enterprise company announced[1] replenishment of a line of the HPE ProLiant servers of the ninth generation (Gen9) by the HPE ProLiant DL60 Gen9 and Proliant DL80 Gen9 models[1].

The HPE ProLiant DL60 and HPE ProLiant DL80 servers support the standard of RAM of DDR4. Server modules of memory of this standard can have capacity to 64 GB and work at frequencies up to 2133 MHz. They consume energy less, performance is 1.5 times higher, in comparison with modules of memory of the previous standard.

Both servers support up to two processors and are intended for installation in a server cabinet or a rack. The DL60 server is executed in body 1U, DL80 – in body 2U. Both are created as the optimal solutions budget on the price with necessary technical and operational performances.

Models are limited in expansion opportunities:

  • servers support only LFF disks,
  • a set of processors is limited (heat release is limited 105 Watts)
  • eight modules of memory (the volume is limited to 256 GB on the server).

Management tools of iLO and One View are available.

Servers are focused on use as the domain controller, mail, file and servers of backup. HPE ProLiant DL60 and DL80 help to create different infrastructure solutions for data processing centers, all main opportunities of the HPE servers are inherent to them.

The engineer of HPE company is finished functionality of power supply, cooling, the organization of cable economy and access to components. Use of the server Intel Xeon processors E5-2600 v3 allowed to provide a full support of virtualization.

Features

The HP server of ProLiant DL60 Gen9 supports to (2) Intel Xeon processors E5-2600 v3 and eight (8) slots of DIMM for modules of memory of HP DDR4 SmartMemory, providing a gain of efficiency and performance improvement on 14%1.

The basic equipment includes devices 2 x 1GbE, to (3) slots of PCIe and the FlexibleLOM HP adapter (at choice).
