2022: Robot goes on sale
In mid-September 2022, HP introduced a small robot Siteprint, which, according to the developers, can significantly speed up construction work by offline printing of landmarks directly from drawings to the floor. The manufacturer characterizes its system as durable, passable and extremely accurate for layout.
The robot replaces the time-consuming manual site-planning process by using many different inks to apply precise lines, precise curves and accurately reproduce complex shapes on all kinds of floors, from porous surfaces such as concrete and plywood to terrazzo, vinyl or epoxy. It does not require a perfectly smooth or clean floor, it can operate with a certain degree of surface unevenness and obstacles up to 2cm high. Built-in obstacle and break sensors provide completely autonomous operation and allow you to bypass obstacles, even if they are not provided for by plan.
{{quote 'The existing manual layout process can be slow and time consuming. As of September 2022, we are using the SitePrint system for our two U.S. projects. Despite the fact that the work is carried out by specialists, there is always a risk of human error, which can lead to expensive alterations. The system allows us to do more with less, helping to shorten deadlines thanks to a much faster layout process and allowing senior operators to focus on other important activities such as quality control, "said Skanska's chief technology officer Albert Zulps. }} In addition to markup lines, Siteprint is capable of printing almost everything you need on the floor, including text notes. Operators set it up using cloud tools to prepare for work, manage the fleet and track it, and on site they can control it using a tablet with a touch screen and a tacheometer mounted on a tripod.[1]
