Hitachi Compute Blade 2000

Product
Developers: HDS (Hitachi Data Systems Corporation)
Technology: Server platforms

Edges of Hitachi Compute Blade 2000 are intended for creation of computer systems of large and medium-sized enterprises. Contain Intel Xeon processors of series 5600 and 7500, to 256 Gbytes of OZU, capacity of a system of input-output — 162 Gbps. In the chassis 10U high about eight such edges are established.

To four Compute Blade 2000 servers can be integrated by means of the bus Quick Path Interconnect connecting their processors and RAM in an eight-processor SMP system which storage capacity can be 1 Tbyte.

One of features of new edges is the so-called hybrid architecture of a subsystem of input-output combining mezzanine switches and slots of PCI-Express 2.0. Hitachi makes own Ethernet switches for the lezviyny systems and also is a reseller of the Fibre Channel switches released by Cisco Systems and Brocade Communications (the last are included in the Russian price lists HDS).

One more feature of Compute Blade 2000 — hardware technology of formation of logical partitions (Logical Partition Access Resources, LPAR). This technology of creation of logical servers which began to be applied in mainframes of Hitachi and IBM long before implementation of modern methods of virtualization is transferred to systems with architecture of x86.

As well as other vendors which released systems with processors of Xeon, HDS claims that Compute Blade 2000 are capable to compete with Unix servers.
