2020: Magic Watch 2 Update with Blood Oxygen Function
On April 15, 2020, Huawei Device announced the expansion of HONOR MagicWatch 2 smartwatch capabilities. Users will receive updates with blood oxygen saturation monitoring technology SpO2 and a menstrual cycle tracking feature designed specifically for women.
According to the company, the updated technology for monitoring blood oxygen saturation allows users to control the SpO2 parameter both in sports and in other domestic situations. The higher the oxygenation level, the better the body is supplied with oxygen, which is necessary for its effective functioning. Normally, the oxygen saturation of the blood should be 90-100%. If the rates are below 89%, it may be a sign of insufficient oxygenation, which causes fatigue, drowsiness, lethargy, dizziness, palpitations, memory decline and can index problems with the functioning of the heart, lungs and other organs.
In addition, the SpO2 measurement technology in HONOR MagicWatch 2 will help track the level of oxygen in the blood along with data on the height at which the user is located. This feature is useful for lovers of hiking, mountain sports and major expeditions. The SpO2 measurement function will be available from April 14 to 18, 2020 to HONOR MagicWatch 2 smartwatch users in version 46 mm and in version 42 mm through an OTA update that is activated application Health in (Huawei Health).
The menstrual cycle tracking function (Female Cycle Tracker), designed to accommodate women's needs, calculates the estimated cycle period, predicts premenstrual symptoms, analyzes sleep quality and other physiological parameters. Users will be able to view statistics on all the data received in the Huawei Health application, as well as subscribe to receive push notifications a few days before the expected menstrual cycle start date. The menstrual tracking feature will be available after the OTA update from April 14 to April 18, 2020 to HONOR MagicWatch smartwatch users in the 42 mm version, and from April 14 to May 10, 2020 to HONOR MagicWatch users in the 46 mm version.
2019: Honor Magic Watch 2 Announcement: Stressometer and Heart Contraction Frequency Sensor
At the end of November 2019, the presentation of the Honor Magic Watch 2 smart watches took place, the developers of which emphasized medical capabilities.
The novelty is equipped with a heart rate sensor, a pulse oximeter, as well as systems for monitoring sleep quality and stress levels. The manufacturer claims that the gadget can track the heart rate around the clock.
The device will be sold in two versions:
- with a 1, 39-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 454 x 454 pixels and a battery with a capacity of 455 mAh (weight 41 grams);
- with a 1, 2-inch AMOLED screen with a resolution of 390 x 390 points and a battery per 215 mAh (weight - 29 grams).
In both versions, the display is round in shape, protected by rounded 2.5D glass and has a brightness of 800 nits, which is more than in some flagship smartphones. Thanks to this parameter, you can comfortably use the clock, even if direct sunlight falls on them.
The Honor Magic Watch 2 technical equipment also includes the Kirin A1 processor, 4 GB of RAM, Bluetooth v5.1 and Wi-Fi wireless modules, GPS navigation receiver, NFC module and the LiteOS operating system. In the built-in memory, according to the manufacturer, you can save up to 500 music tracks.
Huawei claims that the smartwatch is able to function without recharging for up to two weeks. However, battery life may vary depending on the use case of the device.
The watch is clad in an aircraft-class stainless steel case and is able to withstand immersion under water to a depth of up to 50 meters due to an airtight design.
The launch of Honor Watch Magic 2 is scheduled for December 12, 2019. The product will cost from 179 to 189 euros depending on the version.[1]
