Huawei HiAssistant (HiVoice)

Huawei, one of the largest Chinese companies in the field of telecommunications, develops an alternative Google Assistant, Amazon Alexa and Siri Apple aimed at least at the Chinese market. About in February, 2018 it it became known thanks to the entuziazsta which analyzed EMUI 8.1 firmware based on Android 8.1 Oreo of the Chinese version smartphone of Huawei Mate 10. The virtual assistant will receive the name HiAssistant and will allow not only to manage practically any functions of the smartphone, but also will offer integration with the most popular Chinese online services^[1].

Users of the Huawei smartphones from the Chinese region and now have an opportunity to force the devices to execute the simplest voice commands thanks to the pre-installed application of HiVoice. With its help it is possible to call, for example, number from the telephone directory or to construct a route to the nearest shop.

HiAssistant will inherit functionality of HiVoice and will be replenished with a number of new "advanced" features and opportunities.

Key feature of innovation is its capability to understanding of the natural speech (Natural Language Understanding) which will allow to consider nuances of pronunciation and structure of the speech of the user, using the block of neural processing (Neural Processing Unit) of a chipset of HiSilicon Kirin 970 responsible for machine learning and artificial intelligence.

Functionality and integration

The list of the functions supported by the assistant is extensive. Except management of hardware functions (for example, inclusion/shutdown of modules of wireless communication) the user will be able to change and program settings, such as image rotation on the screen, the volume level of a sound and other.

HiAsisstant will also offer an opportunity of voice actuation of such messengers, popular in China, as WeChat and QQ and payment through the largest Chinese banks.

The module HiVision entering delivery will be able to distinguish and categorize various objects, including food, cars, animals and also barcodes, the text and other that does it by Google Lens alternative.
