2018: Announcement of Watson Assistant

In March IBM announced at the annual Think 2018 conference of the voice assistant for business. The service under the name Watson Assistant, uses algorithms of artificial intelligence.

Watson Assistant in fact is the platform on which use the companies will be to obtain licenses that then to create and integrate into products own intellectual any cures of questions by means of spoken commands.

As notes the Business Insider edition, in the technology IBM pays special attention to issues of personalisation and confidential data protection that does it more attractive in comparison with the competing services Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant.

IBM provided the voice assistant for business

Watson Assistant allows the companies to adapt better voice interaction with the employees and clients. So, it is possible to work with any data set and to give own voice commands and actions happening after their accomplishment. For example, it is possible to think up own phrase for activation of the application whereas at other projects the command fixed ("OK Google!" at Google Assistant, "Alexa!" at Amazon).

Watson Assistant provides control of personal data. Any voice assistant created based on this product of IBM works only with that information which to it is provided or collected in the course of interaction with people. Therefore neither IBM, nor other company will be able to get data access about activity of users in different applications.

At last, clients of Watson Assistant will have an opportunity to specify the programs and devices working at the Watson platform which can get data access of each other through a cloud of IBM, helping technology to study at a basis of the actions and to remember preferences of users.

IBM hopes that Watson Assistant will be popular among hotels, banks, medical institutions, restaurants, producers of cars, etc. Some companies already began to use the voice assistant: the airport of Munich applies service to navigation of passengers, Chameleon Technologies — for setup of temperature of the house, Harman — for control of automobile electronics.^[1]
