2025: Rosatom will double the capacity of the Innopolis data center for the development of AI

In mid-September 2025, it became known that Rosatom would more than double the capacity of the Innopolis data center, bringing it to 20 MW. This is necessary to meet the demand for computing resources against the backdrop of the rapid development of artificial intelligence.

Earlier, the state corporation launched the first stage of the Innopolis data processing center, the largest data center in the Volga Federal District. The facility meets Tier III Uptime Institute standards with an availability rate of up to 99.982%. DPC power supply is organized according to the 2N scheme (double power supply redundancy). The main external power supply is provided from two independent power sources and four mutually redundant cable lines from Innopolis GPP. Standby diesel generator plants are able to maintain the operation of the facility for 12 hours without fuel supply. The first stage of the data center with a capacity of 8 MW is designed for 1000 rack rooms. The main process equipment is designed and manufactured in Russia. This will ensure reliable storage of information and efficient use of resources.

Representatives of the Atomdata-Innopolis company, which is part of the Rosatom structure, said that the design capacity of the second stage of the data center will be 20 MW. The construction of the Innopolis-2 data center will begin in 2027. It is planned to create an additional 1000 server racks. The completion of construction work is scheduled for 2030.

The design capacity of the data center is planned to be 20 megawatts. This is due to the fact that the development of artificial intelligence in Russia requires drastic changes in infrastructure in terms of the load on the rack. The market requires more powerful resources, including to close the tasks set by AI, - said Iskander Mardanov, director of business development at Atomdata-Inopolis JSC.[1]

The data center of the Volga Federal District is located in the city of Innopolis - one of the technological cities of the Republic of Tatarstan - and is scheduled for commissioning in early 2024.

The Innopolis data processing center with a capacity of 16 MW will accommodate 2,000 server racks in two buildings on a total area of ​ ​ more than 23 thousand square meters. The data center meets the requirements for the level of safety and reliability of the Tier III standard. Modern engineering solutions are used in the design and construction. The first stage of the data center is designed for 1,000 racks.
