2025: Production Shutdown
The Voronezh Kvant plant, the only manufacturer of TVs in Russia included in the register of domestic radio electronic products of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, has stopped assembling this equipment. The company has suspended production of the entire line of TVs of the Russian brand Irbis. This became known on April 9, 2025.
According to Kommersant, the decision to stop production was announced in a letter from the general director of Kvant LLC Mikhail Etonov to market participants dated March 17, 2025. The document indicates that the company stopped the production of Irbis TVs of all diagonals (from 32 to 65 inches), and the resumption of production in the second and third quarters of 2025 is not planned.
"Quantum"According to sources close to the company, the main reasons for the shutdown of production were low demand for registered products and lengthy procedures for issuing documents for being in the register of the Ministry of Industry and Trade. At the same time, the Kvant plant until recently was the only manufacturer of TVs in Russia included in this register.
Larisa Senina, director of the Marvel Distribution department of KBT, confirmed the information about the termination of the release of registered TVs by the Quantum plant. According to her, the products produced at this enterprise occupy about 10-15% of the Russian TV market. She also noted that other manufacturers will not be able to fulfill the conditions for receiving preferences on public procurement for televisions, and state-owned companies consider the products of Chinese vendors that are gaining popularity as an alternative.
electronic engineers OCS Vladislav Borodin, director of the household department, pointed out that Irbis brand TVs are not suitable for a retail buyer due to their high price compared to competitors. The volume of sales in the business segment was not enough to make production economically feasible.[1]
