2021: Announcement of the first Kia electric car on the E-GMP platform
On October 20, 2021, Kia introduced the EV6 electric crossover on the Russian market. First, the car will be sold only in Moscow and St. Petersburg, and then it is planned to gradually expand the presence of this model in other cities of the Russian Federation.
EV6 was said to be the first battery-powered car in Kia history. The model was created on the new E-GMP platform (Electric-Global Modular Platform, "Global Modular Platform for Electric Vehicles").
The electric car is equipped with a projection display with AR-HUD augmented reality, an infotainment system with an interface designed specifically for the electric car, and a voice command recognition system.
We can talk about a set of modifications and prices in Russia by October 20, 2021. For example, in Germany, the Kia EV6 costs from 45 thousand euros (excluding state subsidies).
Outside the Russian Federation, an electric car is offered several options for configuring a power plant with a zero level of harmful emissions, the range on one charge exceeds 510 km. Ultra-fast 800-volt charging allows you to charge the battery from 10 to 80% in just 18 minutes, the range of 100 km is provided in less than 4.5 minutes. Acceleration to 100 km/h for the most powerful version of the EV6 GT takes 3.5 s, and the maximum speed is 260 km/h.
According to the automaker on October 20, 2021, Kia is also exploring prospects in subsequent years to expand the range of brand electric vehicles offered in Russia, and is also considering the possibility of including the EV6 model in the Kia Flex subscription service.
Kia noted that they plan to work on the development of charging infrastructure. In cooperation with dealer partners, the brand's own charging stations will be created in key cities of Russia.[1]
