The first country completely banned the import of products

On April 14, 2022, the Brazilian sanitary regulator banned the import of Kinder products due to the detection of cases of salmonella infection, the department emphasized that measures are being taken to identify and remove these products from stores. The regulator also demanded that the manufacturer provide data on the control of imports of products to Brazil by third parties.

The decision to impose the ban was made by the National Agency for Sanitary Supervision of Brazil. The country is not one of the states to which these products were delivered, and therefore the embargo is of a preventive nature. This is stated in a statement on the organization's website.

{{quote 'Despite the fact that Brazil is not among the countries where these products were supplied, the agency decided to take precautions to take preventive measures to inform the public and avoid the use of these products or their import from abroad by individuals or importers, "said Robson Freitas, chief physician of the Brazilian sanitary regulator. }} In a statement, the agency said that from April 15, 2022 it will monitor information from the European authorities about cases of infection of people with salmonella enterica associated with the use of Ferrero chocolate products produced in Belgium and distributed around the world. As a preventive measure, the agency recommends that consumers who purchased or intend to purchase Kinder chocolate check the manufacturer's data on the label, especially in Arlon, Belgium.

Ferrero representatives in Brazil sent an official statement to the regulator, which said that the infection occurred at a factory in Arlon, Belgium, and that production was suspended. The company also said that Ferrero began assembling products in all countries of destination, and that the infection did not affect chocolates sold in Brazil.[1]

Kinder Surprises Review

In early April 2022, Ferrero announced the recall of Kinder chocolate products. The recall is associated with the suspicion of the presence of salmonella in them - bacteria that are causative agents of salmonellosis and other intestinal infections.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency said that no cases of disease related to recalled products were recorded in Canada, but the agency checked only 25% of the total number of batches. Dangerous products were sold on the national market in different sizes with expiration dates from June 19, 2022 to November 29, 2022. Chocolate is also recalled in Belgium, France, Germany, Ireland, Luxembourg, Great Britain, Norway and Sweden.

Ferrero recalls Kinder Surprises due to bacteria found in them

Recalled chocolates include Kinder Schoko-Bons, Happy Moments - Kinder confectionery range, Kinder Mini Eggs, Kinder Egg Hunt Kits, Kinder Mix 7 Easter Treats, Natder Surprise, Kinder Surprise Mproise The UK Ministry of Health at the beginning of April 2022 is conducting an investigation into food safety, which can lead to the recall of other products.

Salmonella poisoning can cause a wide range of symptoms, from short-term fever, headache and nausea to more serious problems, including severe arthritis and, in rare cases, even death. The cause of the disease is the salmonella bacteria. They are well preserved and long lived in the environment. They are not afraid of the cold, so freezing products does not prevent infection. But when boiling, these bacteria die instantly.

The European Center for Disease Prevention and Control said on April 6, 2022, that chocolate products were identified as a likely route of infection in an outbreak that reached 134 children, mostly under the age of 10, several of whom were hospitalized.[2]
