2021: Start exporting Ledvance Tibera UVC lamps abroad
On March 24, 2021, Ledvans informed TAdviser that the plant in Smolensk began exporting low-pressure ozone-free bactericidal lamps Ledvance Tibera UVC to Latin America, India, Singapore and China from February 2021, and supplies to Eastern and Western Europe are underway from the end of 2020. Now the plant is not only one of the country's largest producers of a bactericidal ozone-free lamp, but also so far its only Russian exporter abroad, the company said. At the same time, the demand in the global market is extremely high, it is due to the small number of manufacturers of UV lamps for the prevention of coronavirus and other respiratory infections.
Smolensky plant mastered the production of bactericidal ozone-free lamps under the brand name Ledvance Tibera UVC in 2020 to combat the spread of COVID-19. Production with a capacity of up to 80 thousand UV lamps per day started in June and made it possible to offer the most competitive price for the product due to significant volumes. The project was implemented in a short time due to the reorientation of capacities. This allowed not only to meet the emerging market needs, but also to ensure the employment of employees at a time of declining demand for traditional lighting devices due to quarantine restrictions.
At the same time, all business processes were initially built with the expectation of expanding the production of UV products, including through export, since the company already has experience in foreign deliveries of its main product - a fluorescent lamp for general lighting.
In total, over 4 million bactericidal lamps were produced at the Ledvans plant from the start of production until the beginning of March 2021, and the bulk of them are aimed at meeting the needs of Russian consumers. By March 24, 2021, an acute deficit was removed. So, if at the beginning almost all products were produced according to preliminary orders and customers expected it for several months, now the situation has stabilized.
Trial deliveries to European countries began in 2020, and from January 2021, products are also going to Latin America, India, Singapore, China. The average export volume is about 15% of all low-pressure bactericidal lamps produced, the rest is sold in the Russian Federation, and the demand for products in our country is still high, commented on Lyubov Matveeva, business development manager of UV products at the Ledvans plant in Smolensk.

UV lamps are delivered abroad through the official distribution network of wholesale companies to retail stores, treatment and prevention facilities, as well as trade and production organizations interested in protecting the health of their employees.
The high social importance of our product and compliance with all necessary international standards made it possible to quickly establish exports. It also helped significantly that Ledvans already has its own glass production for general light and is included in the list of continuously operating organizations. They were allowed to work during the quarantine period by decree of the President of Russia, which made it possible to provide the country with such a necessary and important product. In the future, as the Russian market becomes saturated, we plan to increase supplies around the world, because this expands the opportunities for the development of production in Russia. In many ways, the launch of an additional production complex for the production of uviol glass for bactericidal lamps, which will be held in the near future, will contribute to the increase in exports, noted Lyubov Matveeva.

2020: Production of 600 thousand lamps
80 thousand bactericidal lamps per day are capable of producing the Smolensk Ledvance plant. Already at the beginning of August 2020, about 600 thousand lamps were manufactured and sold. The company almost completely reoriented itself to the production of this products in demand during the pandemic. This was announced by Ledvance on August 6, 2020.
Lamps of this type are the safest for humans, they destroy the DNA of dangerous microorganisms and prevent them from multiplying. The products are sold to manufacturers of bactericidal equipment, and in the second half of the year, after meeting the hot demand in the domestic market, the company plans to start exporting to Eastern and Western Europe. Technological lamps meet international requirements and are already certified according to the European standard.
Not so long ago, the plant completed an investment project to re-equip a glass-melting furnace worth 200 million rubles with the support of the Administration. This helped optimize costs, increase production volumes and create jobs, "emphasizes Oleg Vorobyov, deputy head of the Department of Industry and Trade of the Smolensk Region. - For the region, the work of high-tech enterprises that produce socially significant products for the preservation of people's health is important. Smolensk lamps have great export potential. |
A protective coating is applied to the inner surface of the glass bulb of the lamp, it provides a bactericidal flow at a level of 35-40% of the nominal power consumption. According to this characteristic, Smolensk lamps are 5% more effective than other Russian and foreign analogues at the same power. The life of the lamp is also longer than that of competitors by 1-2 thousand hours.
Previously, bactericidal lamps were used to disinfect premises mainly in medical institutions and laboratories with "clean rooms." At chemical, pharmaceutical, food enterprises, at food warehouses, in kindergartens and health facilities. Now Rospotrebnadzor recommends the use of recyclers-irradiators to all budgetary and commercial organizations with a large population of people for the prevention of coronavirus infection. The market for bactericidal lamps has literally "exploded," and not only Russian, we receive orders from all over the world, "comments Alexander Seliverstov, director of the LEDVANS plant in Smolensk. |
A special installation is used for coating. Bactericidal lamps are produced on four production lines - the same as for luminescent. Therefore, the launch of production did not require additional equipment.
The transition to the production of bactericidal lamps provided employment for employees, despite a decrease in demand for lighting devices from construction companies.
