2024: Launch of the "Digital Environmental Footprint Calculator" solution

MTS, a digital ecosystem, has launched the digital eco-project "Digital Ecological Footprint Calculator," which allows you to determine how human actions with high-tech devices and digital services affect the environment, and what needs to be done to reduce the negative consequences for the planet.

You can calculate your ecological footprint of digital life using a special online calculator MTS, which will calculate how much carbon dioxide appears on the planet as a result of the digital life of a particular user in one year. For accurate calculation, the user needs to answer a number of questions, including specifying the devices and services that a person uses and determining the total daily amount of time he spends with a laptop or smartphone. Also, the project website contains information on how actions in gadgets - from storing information on devices to watching videos on the Internet and sending SMS - affect the state of our planet.

Our digital lives are just a fraction of the big picture of the world that is affecting climate change. We indirectly or directly release carbon, methane and others gases when we buy food or go to work. Emissions are changing the climate on our planet. By changing some habits, each of us can make a positive contribution to climate conservation. Therefore, MTS has created a calculator of the digital environmental footprint, which not only calculates greenhouse gas emissions, but also allows you to find out how to reduce the negative effect thanks to the deliberate use of digital technologies, applications and gadgets. We see how the demand for digital services is growing and there is a possibility that without changing user habits and demand structure, the contribution of the digital industry to the total volume of greenhouse gas emissions will begin to increase, - said Yuri Savelyev, director of the MTS ESG center.
