2019: Avast sold to Barracuda Networks business in the field of RMM
At the beginning of February, 2019 Barracuda Networks announced acquisition at Avast Software of family of the solutions Managed Workspace therefore the buyer entered the software market for remote monitoring and management (RMM). Financial and other terms of transaction do not reveal.
Having caught Managed Workspace, the Barracuda Networks company became the competitor to such producers of RMM platforms as Autotask and Kaseya. At the same time at Barracuda Networks partner relations with many suppliers of such solutions are established. The company did not specify whether it will save emphasis of Managed Workspace on security or will develop a line for broader spectrum of technologies.
We consider that in the market of the managed services there is not enough RMM solution focused on security which would allow suppliers to include easily problems of security in their normal routine procedure of management. Security became an important part of products of the MSP companies, and we want that they easier and effectively managed security transactions — the senior vice president and the general manager of the MSP direction in Barracuda Brian Babineau reported the CRN edition, |
Solutions of the class RMM provide remote control and management of IT systems, such as network devices, desktop computers servers and mobile devices, using locally set software agents which the service provider of management can address. Thanks to such software system administrators can manage and control several items of equipment from one centralized console.
The head of corporate division of Avast Kevin Chapman says that the company, having concluded the bargain with Barracuda Networks, will be able to be focused more on the partner channel better to satisfy customer needs regarding information security.[1]
