2025: Product Announcement

In mid-November 2025, the Chinese company Midea introduced a compact humanoid robot called Mei La X. It is designed to perform various tasks in residential premises.

The Mei La X is a bipedal robot of comparative small stature. It is designed primarily to serve spaces where people are. The robot is capable of interacting with household appliances, including washing machines, microwave ovens and refrigerators.

Xu Yi, director of the Midea Artificial Intelligence Research Institute, said home robots will become more mature technologically by 2027-2028. At the same time, it will take more time to create full-fledged commercial products. There are several main scenarios for using humanoid home robots: washing, cooking, cleaning, caring for the elderly, etc.

Xu notes that the initial goal is to achieve high speed and efficiency in individual tasks before developing additional capabilities. For example, robots will be able to take clothes out of the washing machine, smooth and fold them, recognize products and arrange them in certain compartments in the refrigerator, etc. The cost of the robot will be about $30 thousand.

As noted in Midea, humanoid robots, thanks to their shape, are able to effectively interact with the infrastructure familiar to people - climb stairs, open doors and use household items. They can replace a person in routine surgeries, such as day-to-day home care. The development of the industry is facilitated by the introduction of artificial intelligence technologies that help machines adapt to the environment and perform tasks side by side with people.[1]
