2016: Support termination

Since April 12, 2016, Microsoft will not release program additions and update of a security system for SQL Server of 2005 all versions any more and will offer possible ways of migration.

On April 12, 2016 Microsoft officially stops support of all versions of the Microsoft SQL Server 2005. The company is ready to offer more modern versions of a product and to help with data migration of clients. It will provide the high performance of corporate IT infrastructure at the increasing workloads and will promote improvement of operational efficiency and increase in profitability of the company.

Experts note an enormous gap between SQL Server technologies 2005 and SQL Server of 2014 – the modern version shows increase in productivity by 13 times for the traditional OLTP systems, to 30 times when using technologies of transaction processing in RAM, the improved Columnstore index helping to save the place in storage and to increase the speed of accomplishment of requests of reading up to 100 times includes and supports hybrid scenarios in Azure. Besides, SQL Server of 2014 provides to each user of the organization online access to the latest BI tools allowing to analyze data as from external, and internal sources and to prepare the detailed and structured reporting for acceptance of more exact management decisions. So, the Gartner company called new software the leader of "a magic quadrant" in the field of database management systems, having highly appreciated functionality, performance, reliability and also strategic vision of development of the platform.
