According to Ethicon, Monarch provides 80% less radiation exposure in percutaneous intervention compared to standard methods of access under fluoroscopic control. Monarch is said to be the first flexible robotic platform designed for use in both bronchoscopy and urological procedures.

As part of the clinical study, specialists from the UCI Health Center, part of the University of California, Irvine, performed the first surgery to remove kidney stones using Monarch. It is noted that the new approach can help reduce the need for repeated intervention, as well as reduce the risks and frequency of complications after the procedure. In general, the implementation of Monarch will improve the effectiveness of endourological procedures and improve the quality of life of patients.
