NX — flagman CADCAM//CAE-a system from the company Siemens Digital Industries Software (till September 6, 2019 Siemens PLM Software, till October 1st, 2007 UGS PLM Software, division of Siemens Automation & Drives). NX is widely used in mechanical engineering, especially in the industries which are releasing products with a high density of configuration and a large number of parts (power plant engineering, turbine jets, transport mechanical engineering, etc.) and/or making products with irregular shapes (aviation, automobile, etc.)

2020: Integration with NormaCS 4.x

On July 9, 2020 the Nanosoft company provided release of the integration solutions NormaCS 4.x for NX and Teamcenter from Siemens Digital Industries Software. 2016: Siemens NX 11

On September 8, 2016 the Siemens company announced release of NX 11. The module of visualization Ray Traced Studio is upgraded.

NX 11 helps to change product development processes. In this version of NX modeling of the convergent (integrated) systems is implemented that helps to accelerate production of products, facilitates annotation, drawing, visualization and creation of documentation. The special Active Workspace NX 11 component provides simple and convenient access to the PLM functions from the NX environment.

Possibilities of Simcenter 3D for simulation modeling are forecastable product characteristics. NX CAE properties are complemented with functions:

  • acoustic analysis,
  • modeling of the movement of the bus,
  • the improved reporting system and t. p[1].

Simcenter 3D offers the universal scalable and open environment 3D CAE connected with the system of design, 1D modeling, tests and data management. Simcenter 3D helps to accelerate process of reverse engineering.

The Line Designer component helps to compare the existing location of workshops and configuration of production lines of the enterprise to virtual model by means of cloud data. 2014: Siemens NX 10

The appeared tools, including means for outline 2D - design, simplify and accelerate development, and the improvement in the module NX Realize Shape which is completely integrated on Wednesday superficial modeling give unsurpassed opportunities during creation of the most irregular shapes. In the new version support of touch screens by means of which it is possible to use all functions of modeling of the NX system now is implemented. Closer integration with management tools product lifecycle (PLM) on the basis of the environment developed by Siemens company Active Workspace accelerates processes of search of the necessary information. In the version of NX 10 numerous improvements of the automated design - process design and reverse engineering are implemented CADCAMCAE (//).

Increase of complexity of products made 3D - modeling the main design method around the world. History of creation

Originally a CAD the NX system carried the name Unigraphics. Software of Unigraphics it was developed by United Computing company. In 1976 the McDonnell Douglas company (today Boeing) purchased United Computing and afterwards McDonnell Douglas Automation Unigraphics Group was formed. The EDS company purchased this business in 1991. After acquisition of EDS of Structural Dynamics Research Corporation (SDRC) company in 2001, the product Unigraphics was combined with a CAD the I-DEAS system developed by SDRC. Gradual adding of functionality of I-DEAS in the master code of the Unigraphics system became a basis of the existing product line of NX.
