2020: Start of sales of the Nivea shower gels on pouring

In the middle of August, 2020 the Beiersdorf company began to sell the Nivea shower gel on pouring. The corresponding devices appeared in a number of DM shops in Hamburg and Ettlingena (Germany). This project the company intends to check the concept of reusable bottles to reduce the volume of plastic waste.

The station was designed by a team of employees from several divisions of Beiersdorf in the field of packaging and research and development. Though the concept of reusable packaging is not new, in category of personal hygiene means this technology did not find broad application yet. Not all structures can be used thus, and the development team had to carry out internal tests of products to select necessary means. Besides, the station had to support the additional protocols of cleaning corresponding to all safe criterions and stability.

Nivea began to sell shower gels on pouring

Being engaged in development of design of the new station, the command decided to use light signals as visual confirmation to direct users. Every time when one of special large bottles for replenishment is filled or is printed a barcode, the built-in LED indicators report about it to the client. In the station scales for filling control, the reader QR- and a barcode for assessment of batches, the choice of structure of means and cycles of gas station and also difficult pumps, the printer of labels and the programmed microcontroller guaranteeing integration of all functions are used.

The station reduces the volume of waste due to failure from disposable plastic bottles, but also builds in buyers a processing cycle as all returned bottles can be processed and used again. The price of shower gel on a flood by August 18, 2020 is not set.^[1]
