2020: NuVasive C360 announcement - cervical spine implants
In early December 2020, NuVasive released a line of cervical spine devices C360 with the Anterior Cervical Plating system. The new implants are presented with 1.6 mm thin plates and are designed to prevent common postoperative complications such as dysphagia, cervical vertebral displacement and fusion. The developers suggest that the use of new implants will allow surgeons to adjust treatment according to the needs of the patient without fear of serious complications.
The system is equipped with plate implants of three types. Their rigidity is optimized according to the surgical level, which allows maintaining the stability of the entire operational design. Surgeons will also be able to independently select the length of the implant in a wide range of values in accordance with the unique anatomy of the patient. New screws with built-in fixing covers provide high fixation accuracy of the implant and vertebrae.
It is assumed that the new system will allow surgeons to solve various problems related to the cervical spine. Todd Albert, Surgeon Emeritus of the New York Hospital for Special Operations, noted that different profiles and sizes of the front neck plates, combined with a variety of interbody implants, will allow surgeons to change treatment according to the needs of patients.
NuVasive has found the ability to integrate technology into cervical spine surgery to optimize surgeon performance and improve the quality of treatment, said Massimo Calafiore, Executive Vice President of NuVasive. - C360 release is a key event in our long-term strategy and an opportunity for further growth as the cervical spine surgery market is valued at approximately $2.6 billion.[1] |
