2019: Announcement of Shield TV and Shield TV Pro based on Tegra X1 +

On October 28, 2019 the NVIDIA company announced the next generation of SHIELD TV – devices which provide the high level of house entertainments, games and opportunities based on AI.

Two SHIELD models — SHIELD TV (13,990 rub) and SHIELD TV Pro (17,590 rub) — guarantee good impressions of a sound and the image. The updated Tegra X1+ processor, is 25% faster than the predecessor, allows to implement support of Dolby Vision technologies for bright, live images and Dolby Atmos for high-quality a sound. Computing opportunities of the processor considerably increase image quality on the screen due to use of AI for scaling of HD of video in 4K.

The next SHIELD TV models are another step forward for an ecosystem of SHIELD which introduced remarkable innovations to the living room five years ago. Without doubts, they provide the entertainments, best in the class, with support of Dolby Atmos, Dolby Vision and other advanced technologies using AI for improvement of a streaming video. SHIELD TV is packed into the compact small body which will harmoniously look or will even merge with design of entertainment centers. The mediaplayer is equipped with Gigabit Ethernet and two-channel Wi-Fi interfaces for high-speed data transmission.

SHIELD TV Pro lifts entertainments to the high level, satisfying requests even of the most exacting users. Externally the mediaplayer is similar to the model of last generation which received wide popularity, at the same time it received more memory and two USB ports for start of Plex Media Server and connection of drives and other USB devices.

Both products are completed with completely updated remote control panel running on two AAA batteries which has buttons with illumination and the motion sensor, the built-in device of search of the panel and the microphone for voice search.

SHIELD founded on OS Android TV opens access to more than 500,000 movies and transfers and to more than 5000 applications and games through Google Play. Google Assistant allows to find quickly entertainments, to manage smart devices and to receive answers on the screen using voice requests. Now SHIELD supports also routine transactions – i.e. using one Google Assistant command will carry out several tasks.

Effective images and sound

Dolby Vision does the image brighter and juicy — thanks to the high brightness, contrast, flowers and detailing the image in movies becomes deeper and natural. This technology can render earlier unavailable colors with high contrast where light sections are 40 times lighter, and dark is 10 times more dark.

The Dolby Atmos technology creates a powerful mobile sound, providing its exact positioning and movement in all space of the premises. Instead of audio channels Dolby Atmos works with sound objects – any sound information accompanied with metadata about its provision in three-dimensional space. It allows to reproduce audio with a big accuracy, providing a clear, accurate and many-sided sound which fills all room.

AI in the house

Thanks to the leading positions of NVIDIA in the field of work with artificial intelligence, SHIELD has potential which is absent at competitors. In addition to the built-in Google of the Assistant and Amazon Echo, users of the device will be able to apply scaling based on AI (AI upscaling) to broadcast of content of high definition. The scaled technology trained at deep neuronets allows owners of SHIELD to watch video 720p and 1080p in permission 4K.

Cloud geyming in GFN.RU service

Both SHIELD devices allow to play Android front lines games and support the cloud geyming of GeForce NOW available to the Russian users through GFN.RU (www.gfn.ru) service. GFN.RU is compatible to popular services of digital distribution of PCs games and supports already more than one hundred popular in Russia and the world of paid and free games, including Fortnite, War Thunder, Warface, World of Tanks, "the Subway: Outcome", etc.
