The company the Petroglyph since 1997 is engaged in software development for business automation. Till 2017 work was conducted over exclusively commercial version of the ERP system of Papyrus, however the company management made the decision on implementation of the open version available to downloading and studying. Nevertheless, in the code of the open version there are changes which, first of all, concern protection of personal customer information, using the commercial version: the functionality is completely similar to the proprietary version of Papyrus, but databases are incompatible because of different encryption keys.
The main task of opening of access to source codes of a system is the attempt to attract fresh forces and additional interest in development.
Functionality
Any enterprise management system includes a certain feature set which includes, first, the functions which are the general for the majority of ERP systems, and secondly, the functions distinguishing the considered system from all others. OpenPapyrus is not an exception.

Except the specified functions, OpenPapyrus has the built-in analytical tools with internal visualization tools of data: creation of diagrams, time diagrams, color selection of significant table panes of data view and fields of dialogs. The built-in forms of analytical reports it is supplemented with a possibility of creation of the user forms of the reporting.
A system gives following features: synchronization of databases, regulation of data access, maintaining system event log, function of export and import of data, functions of integrity checking and data recovery, backup function.
Features of a system
At synchronization of data between remote divisions all sections peer-to-peer thanks to what any couples of sections without participation dispatching can exchange data.
In a system the technology of pricing allowing to manage the prices in cuts of nomenclature units, commodity groups, warehouses, partners and currencies is used.
For the sector of retail:
- A system stores both the cash vouchers and accounting documents created on the basis of these checks in the database
- Supersessions: the mechanism of consolidation of cash sessions in one day (day)
- Work with the majority of the most widespread types of a retail store equipment is completely integrated into a system.
- The technology of determination of formats of labels which is built in a system for printers of barcodes and formats a slip reports (when using own POS functionality).
- Own modules for the pocket computers based on Windows Mobile and PalmOS providing the full-function solution for mobile agents.
For the sector of wholesale:
- Server technology for high-speed remote data exchange between office and mobile agents.
- Technology of calculation and analysis of ratings of debtors.
- One order can be shipped by several documents, is equal as one shipment document can "close" several documents of orders.
