The solution SPARC Supercluster based on the SPARC T3 and M5000 servers – the optimal high-performance platform for databases. SPARC Supercluster from Oracle is the complete infrastructure solution for work of clusters of databases running Oracle RAC. The solution SPARC Supercluster includes the new SPARC servers, FlashFire flash accelerators, the switches InfiniBand QDR, Oracle Solaris and storage systems of ZFS Storage Appliance.
The SPARC Supercluster system will be available to the order next year in configurations based on the T3-2, T3-4 and M5000 servers. All three SPARC Supercluster configurations include the SPARC T3 or M5000 servers, storage systems of Sun ZFS 7420 and also the Sun Network ZFS InfiniBand Gateway switches, says Oracle.
The computing hardware-software complex of SPARC SuperClaster T4 belongs to the category "application-to-disk" (from applications to disk arrays). The complex is specially created for consolidation of a broad spectrum of corporate applications, crucial for business. The server of new generation Oracle SPARC T4-4 with the Oracle Solaris operating system, Oracle Exadata store cells, the built-in separated disk storage system of Oracle Sun ZES Storage 73220 Appliance is a part of a supercluster. The complex provides high efficiency thanks to tenfold consolidation of server resources and work of heterogeneous environments of databases, binding technologies and web applications.
In the fall of 2012 the Oracle corporation announced new opportunities of the software of the optimized hardware and software system Oracle Sparc SuperCluster. Improvements allow customers to consolidate crucial corporate databases, binding software and applications in any combinations and within one system and also to quickly unroll the protected cloud services with self-service support.
The Sparc SuperCluster complex is capable to provide the 10-fold density of consolidation of applications thanks to new multilevel means of virtualization in combination with functions of partial transfer of data processing on servers of storage to Oracle Exadata Storage Servers and effective network solutions.
So, now clients of Sparc SuperCluster can: to quickly unroll crucial multirent applications — without costs for virtualization, thanks to a possibility of isolation of workloads in the zones Oracle Solaris Zones; perform the virtualization in the zones Oracle Solaris Zones of copies of Oracle DBMS working with servers of storage Oracle Exadata X3 Storage Servers for providing the safe isolated services of databases in "cloud"; unroll several domains Oracle Database and corporate applications on each computing Sparc SuperCluster node for achievement of required level of consolidation and flexibility of cloud environments; redistribute the CCP resources and memories between the existing zones and the domains Sparc SuperCluster according to the changing requirements of workloads.
According to Oracle, the Sparc SuperCluster complex with Oracle Enterprise Manager 12c reduces time necessary for selection of resources for multirent cloud services of applications to 10 times, in comparison with selection of resources by means of different work benches or manually, and up to 32 times accelerates deployment of each copy of Oracle DBMS in comparison with installation manually. Sparc SuperCluster also proposes the complete solution for management of lifecycle of "cloud" by means of Oracle Enterprise Manager 12c.
So, by estimates of developers, in comparison with the diverse systems collected by customers independently Sparc SuperCluster provides: 5-fold acceleration of implementation — reduction of time from installation prior to operation since several months for the diverse systems up to several weeks for the Sparc SuperCluster complexes; 10-fold performance improvement of information storages due to integration of the latest servers of storage of Oracle Exadata X3 Storage Servers which are built in each Sparc SuperCluster complex. At the same time, the virtualized applications work also quickly and effectively, as well as in case of their installation at a dedicated server, thanks to the hardware hypervisor which is built in Sparc T4.
Customers can lower operating costs due to consolidation of Oracle Solaris 10 and earlier versions within the high-performance Sparc SuperCluster complex without modification of daily transactions in these environments, emphasized in corporation.
Customers of Sparc SuperCluster also get access to support of Oracle Premier Support, including Oracle Platinum Services. This program provides to users of the supported configurations of the optimized hardware and software systems of Oracle a possibility of remote monitoring of 24/7 failures, exclusively short response time and maintenance and also quarterly updates of the patches established directly on their systems that provides the high level of readiness of IT infrastructure for crucial tasks.
"Oracle Sparc SuperCluster combines means of multilevel highly effective consolidation and a cloud platform of self-service for databases, binding software and applications — Ganesh Ramamurthy, the vice president of Oracle for development said. — Clients of Sparc SuperCluster already announce 10-fold and more increase in level of consolidation and radical reduction of time and efforts at deployment of new applications. The opportunity which appeared in Sparc SuperCluster quickly and safely to unroll new cloud services provides the protected, cost-efficient transition to cloud infrastructure".
