2024: Product Launch
At the end of October 2024, it became known that Panasonic Holdings, Tokyu and UR Urban Renaissance Agency launched a new service for the delivery of goods by air in Japan. For this, special robots are used that move along the wires.
In Japan,Automated delivery vehicles of a new type are equipped with a special roller mechanism, thanks to which they can move along overhead city lines. A container is suspended at the bottom of the robots, in which the goods ordered by the customer are placed. Buyers will be able to issue applications through a special mobile application, after which the robot will deliver products to the point of issue. In addition, it is expected that orders can be made through special terminals installed in building halls or public places.
InThe project participants highlight several key advantages of the proposed delivery method compared to unmanned aerial vehicles. This is an increased level of safety, no noise from propellers, as well as higher efficiency.
Japan has launchedAccording to Panasonic, the project is aimed primarily at solving social problems, such as labor shortages and rising delivery costs when ordering through online services. In addition, the system is supposed to improve the convenience of shopping in suburban residential areas, where the birth rate is declining and the population is aging. Another goal is the popularization of "live" communication between people: goods are delivered using robots to areas of accumulation of citizens, thanks to which personal interaction is stimulated.
Panasonic Holdings is creating new value by openly addressing social issues, with the goal of forming an "ideal society" rich both physically and mentally, the company said in a statement.[1] |
