2020: Use for deliveries of the spare parts BMW

At the beginning of April, 2020 announced BMW that uses a blockchain for tracking of international supplies of spare parts. The German car maker submitted the PartChain project developed in the company for the first time started in 2019. To this platform it is going to transfer all suppliers of BMW.

Supply chains of carmakers are very difficult and include a number of different suppliers who need to hold communication with the producer constantly. Using PartChain, BMW traces a way of all parts from production to the plant. Having invited all suppliers to the general blockchain platform, the company will gain clearer idea of a supply chain and will be able to book audit more effectively.

PartChain uses cloud services from Amazon Web Services and Microsoft Azure in addition to a blockchain which is called Hyperledger Fabric. However, BMW not to get used to a blockchain, the carmaker already started several similar projects.
