Availability in AppGallery to Russian users

The Petal Search system has become available in the official app store AppGallery all owners of Huawei and Honor devices. This was announced on August 19, 2020 by Huawei. The application is a full-fledged service with support for HMS (Huawei Mobile Services).

The Petal Search service, based on the Petal search engine, is an application distribution aggregator and search engine. The Petal Search launch page contains a constantly updating current news feed with a search string where you can find any information of interest. The service has a system of recommendations and collections of local applications, as well as a global search by region and language.

Petal Search offers advanced search capabilities for information and applications and provides relevant results personalized to the user. At the same time, the application combines hardware-level security technologies and personal data protection. Petal Search looks for applications in various sources and always indicates the origin of the original.

Petal Search scans the Internet using indexing technology developed by Huawei and uses information from partners, which allows users to provide up-to-date and complete search results, including applications, news, movies, music tracks and other content, the company noted.

Search results are sorted by relevance, source authority, publication date, and a variety of other factors determined by the ranking algorithm. As in traditional search engines, the algorithm works in a fully automatic mode and does not allow manipulation and manual correction.

Petal Search Launches

In mid-May 2020, Huawei officially introduced its Petal Search engine. The company, being under US sanctions, has lost access to Google services, so it is developing its own alternative products.

In Petal Search, users can not only search for the necessary information, but also view news, weather forecast, video, listen to music, book hotel rooms and download applications. In addition, Huawei promises to gradually expand the functionality of the service.

Huawei launched its search engine

The company has been developing this service for more than a year. During the tests, the search service was called Huawei Search, and the system was tested since February 2020. A stable version of Petal Search appeared for download in the Huawei online store in May.

Thanks to the new platform, Petal Search allows you to easily find applications from third-party sources, and then download and install APK. If the application you are looking for is available in the AppGallery, then the user is forwarded to the store, and if not, they will be sent to a third-party platform, such as APKPure, for download and installation. While the range of AppGallery is limited, and of course, it is still impossible to install Facebook, Instagram and other popular American services there.

Petal Search is available in AppGallery as a "super application" combining several services. The new application and its functions may not yet be available in all countries by May 23.

Earlier in May, it was reported that Google asked the US government for permission to resume cooperation with Huawei. The German Finanzen portal explained that the vice president of Google for Android Samir Sama (Samir Sama) addressed with such request to the U.S. Government. By May 23, 2020, the government did not respond to the request.[1]
