The Russian developers from EastBanc Technologies group with assistance of Bing and MSN created the cloud applicaion for social network Facebook which during elections helped citizens of the USA to find selective points on the card and prompted, what documents voters should take with themselves.
On November 6, 2012 in day of presidential elections 6 million American voters used the Polling Place Locator application.
Using the Polling Place Locator cloud applicaion voters, having entered the address into search string, could find the selective point and also obtain information on necessary documents and contacts of the officials supervising their sections. The application was created on the Windows platform of Azure. For trouble-free operation of the application in the voting day 90 cores worked and 127 databases were used.
The Los Angeles Times newspaper noted a contribution which social networks made in preparation and the course of elections-2012: Facebook, Google and Twitter actively helped the users to be aware of the events connected with elections, reminded full age voters of their civic duty and also focused citizens "on location" using cards. According to Los Angeles Times the Polling Place Locator application "became possible, the most useful tool" for detection of polling precincts".
Let's remind that presidential elections in the USA of 2012 took place on Tuesday November 6, 2012 and became the 57th election of the president of the USA. The victory on elections was won by the current president Barack Obama. He received 50.5% of votes while his main competitor — 48.0%.
