The Ministry of Industry and Trade will sign the contract with Federal scientific center of scientific research institute of system researches of the Russian Academy of Sciences (FNTs SRISA RAS Federal State Institution) for development and mastering of serial production of the microprocessor of general purpose from built-in 3D - graphics and low power consumption (cipher "BASIS-B1"). The winner of the corresponding tender[1] this organization was selected in October, 2016.
SRISA of RAS suggested to perform works on the maximum price quoted by Minpromtorg - 912.7 million rubles. The bid with the similar price of works was submitted also by Federal State Unitary Enterprise STC Atlas.
Project objective in the tender documentation replacement of the import Intel processor Atom E680T with EG20T chipset is specified. Among technical requirements to it – existence not less than two domestic microprocessor cores with MIPS64-like architecture with caches of commands and data of 1 level (L1I, L1D) with a capacity not less than 32 Kb and a cache of the second level (L2) with a capacity not less than 512 Kb. The clock rate of a core of CPU should make 1.2 GHz.
Technology process and project regulations of production of microcircuit chips in terms of reference do not make a reservation. They should be defined at a development stage of the engineering design and are approved with the organizations determined by the customer.
Prototypes of the processor should be developed until the end of November, 2018.
The RAS follows from the bid of SRISA that as a processor core it suggests to use MIPS64-like architecture of "KOMDIV64" of own development. In September, 2016 the United Instrument Manufacturing Corporation (UIMC) which is a part of Rostec Group announced creation of the protected computer for military based on the processor with architecture of "KOMDIV64".
Earlier, in November, 2015, Minpromtorg held a competition[2] on development of the multi-core 64-bit processor, with the integral units of processing of multispectral images and a set of interfaces for aviation application. The maximum price of the contract was 800 million rubles. Then in the technical project the E680T Intel Atom model with EG20T chipset was registered too as one of import processors which it should replace.
In the list of processors, on replacement with which the domestic analog is developed, products of the companies Qualcomm Infineon Technologies Ingenic, NEC with comparable characteristics were also specified.
The similar requirement was specified in a case with this tender in the technical project that the processor should contain cores with architecture of MIPS64, only them had to be eight. In total characteristics of a chip made a reservation that it should have topology of 28 nanometers.
The winner of competition in 2015 selected SPC ELVes (SPC Elvis) which suggested to perform works on the maximum price. In the request of the company it was said that it can perform a full stroke of design of multinuclear heterogeneous microprocessors on project regulations of 28 nanometers using own Multikor platform.
The processor based on MIPS architecture - Baikal-T1 - with the participation of financing from Minpromtorg, is developed also by Baikal Electronics which is a part T-Platforms. In the spring of 2015 the company announced release of engineering samples of the processor, and in 2016 – development of the first end devices based on Baikal-T1 by a number of the companies. For example, printer and automatic telephone exchange.[3] the processor on technology of 28 nanometers at the Taiwan plant TSMC is made.
