2023: Simplified Biometrics Handover Scheme Begins
On October 20, 2023, a simplified scheme for submitting biometrics to the Unified Biometric System (EBS) was launched in Russia. To go through the procedure, it is enough to have a smartphone or tablet with the mobile application "Public services Biometrics" installed. At the same time, the use of a new generation passport is not required.
According to the newspaper "Vedomosti," to enter the application "Public services Biometrics" a confirmed account on Public services are required. Further, to transfer information to the EBS according to a simplified scheme, you need to choose the option of passing biometrics without a passport, take a picture on the camera of the mobile device and pronounce three sequences of numbers presented on the screen. Moreover, the last step can be missed if in the future it is not planned to receive services with voice identification.
Biometrics provided through a simplified system remain valid for three years. This data can be used to confirm your identity when making purchases in the amount of up to 2500 rubles - both in online stores and offline. In addition, simplified biometrics allows you to pay for travel on public transport, as well as access to various objects with a throughput system, for example, to commercial offices. In the future, the range of services is planned to be expanded.
In addition to the simplified biometrics scheme, two other methods are still available. One of them is a personal visit to the bank with the presentation of SNILS and a Russian passport. The data provided in this way is equal in importance to the passport, which allows, for example, to take loans, issue a qualified electronic signature, etc. Another method is to transfer information through the Public services Biometrics application with the provision of information about the passport of a new sample (via NFC in a smartphone).[1]
