QlikView Direct Discovery

In October, 2012 the QlikTech company announced release of the QlikView Direct Discovery tool providing direct access from annexes of QlikView to so-called "Big Data". The Direct Discovery tool which is one of components of strategy of QlikView on work with "Big Data" allows to connect the data with "Big Data" from external sources which are already loaded into RAM for the fast visual analysis. Thanks to such hybrid model of the complex analysis it is not necessary to make the choice between direct access to "Big Data" and the data which are previously loaded into RAM now. The QlikView Direct Discovery tool will be a part of updating for QlikView of version 11 of December, 2012 and will be available without additional payment.

Simpler interface and all opportunities for work with "Big Data"

At the expense of a possibility of writing of requests directly to tables, without use of difficult transactions of extraction/conversion/data loading (ETL), IT departments can provide to business users access to huge information arrays which were unavailable to them earlier. Thanks to such hybrid approach unification of information storages is provided that allows to provide to users data necessary to them in the fullness of time, without additional dead times or decline in production. When using QlikView Direct Discovery users get high-performance access to "Big Data" and all functions of associative search which are available in QlikView Business Discovery. They can still investigate information according to current demands, without being limited to the predetermined algorithms. Thus, now, for example, trends of change of retail sales volumes in QlikView can be analyzed together with the huge volume of transaction data from storage that will allow to reveal patterns of consumer demand and it is better to plan more effective advertizing campaigns. QlikView Direct Discovery for Teradata

Also in October, 2012 QlikTech and Teradata company announced consolidation of efforts for creation of the new Direct Discovery tool which will allow customers to use at the same time as the QlikView systems given from RAM, and data from the integrated Teradata data warehouses. The QlikView Direct Discovery tool optimized for work with Teradata storages, recently announced eliminates need to load large volumes of data into RAM, providing direct access from the QlikView system to information in data warehouses of Teradata and display of results using visualization tools or the QlikView dashboards.

The QlikView Direct Discovery for Teradata tool will be a part of updating for QlikView of version 11 of December, 2012.

Thanks to a possibility of direct access to Teradata data warehouse in requests of QlikView Direct Discovery the following advantages will become available to customers:

• The comprehensive, unified analysis. Business users of QlikView will be able to turn on in the analysis, in addition to all other sources, given from Teradata storages. In interaction with QlikTech and Teradata customers will have an opportunity to optimize Wednesday, having balanced the data loaded into RAM, and data loaded dynamically.
• Information on use of data. By means of the QlikView Governance Dashboard dashboard specialists of IT department will be able to see what data are most often used by applications of QlikView, whether it be data from Teradata storage or data from other sources. Thanks to such analysis IT specialists will be able to develop the plan of transition to the new corporate data warehouse, data from which will be available also to other corporate applications when preserving all advantages of security, controllability and performance of the Teradata platform.
• Speed of access and convenience of using. Simple instruments of rapid application development QlikView in implementation on the basis of associative communications between data will become accesses and to customers of Teradata now.
