2019: Release of mobile platform Qualcomm 215

On July 9, 2019 the Qualcomm Technologies company announced release of the mobile platform of the 2nd series — Qualcomm 215. The solution will provide to buyers of smartphones of initial level reliability and high performance and also access to modern mobile technologies.

"Thanks to the 64-bit processor and support at once of two processors of image processing of Qualcomm 215 becomes an important milestone for development of the sphere of mobile technologies. We give to users of an opportunity who did not implement in platforms of the 2nd series earlier", noted the Kedar Kondap (Kedar Kondap), the vice president for product management in Qualcomm Technologies

According to the producer, in Qualcomm 215 four cores of ARM Cortex-A53 which allowed to increase processor capacity by 50% in comparison with the previous generation of mobile platforms are used. Emergence of 64-bit processors in platforms of the 2nd series will lead to the general performance improvement and battery life of devices due to support of more modern 64-bit applications. Also the Qualcomm Hexagon processor which is capable to provide reproduction of music during more than five days from one battery power, and the graphic processor Qualcomm Adreno 308 providing ten and more hours of video playback will help to increase battery life. Qualcomm platform 215 supports Qualcomm Quick Charge technology with which devices are charged 75% quicker due to smaller dispersion of power and heat. At the same time its use does not influence the overall performance of a system in any way.

In Qualcomm 215 2nd series support of ISP for dual cameras appears. Thanks to it in the applications for the dual camera created by third-party developers it will be possible to implement an optical zoom and measurement of scene depth to increase the general quality of pictures. Processors of image processing of Qualcomm 215 are capable to create pictures up to 13 in size of Mpiks. Also Qualcomm 215 supports resolutions of HD+ and a modern aspect ratio of the screen that users could watch with great comfort video and the websites from the mobile devices. In games performance will increase thanks to the graphic processor Adreno 308 which will provide a gain to 28% in comparison with the previous generation and smooth drawing of graphics in casual games, claim in Qualcomm Technologies.

According to the statement of the producer to achieve high quality of mobile communication in any situation, in Qualcomm 215 the built-in Qualcomm Snapdragon X5 modem with support LTE Cat 4 and aggregations of carrier frequencies is used. It allows to provide higher data transfer rates and speed of loading of files to 150 Mbps. Also Qualcomm 215 keeps in a voice communication of the EVS format (a voice communication in ultrahigh quality) and at once two SIM cards with VoLTE. It will give to users the chance at the same time to use several SIM cards with support 4G for a voice communication and data transmission in LTE networks, separations of working and personal numbers and also for expense reduction on mobile communication due to the choice of different tariff plans under different tasks.

According to the producer, in Qualcomm 215 will appear:

• 64-bit processor,
• support of ISP for dual cameras,
• support of pictures up to 13 Mpiks,
• support of shooting of video in Full HD (1080p),
• support of display resolution of HD+,
• the Hexagon DSP chip for sound processing and these sensors,
• support of two SIM cards with VoLTE,
• support of a voice communication of EVS,
• support of Wi-fi networks 802.11ac,
• support of payments NFC of century OS Android.

It is expected that commercial devices based on Qualcomm 215 will appear in the market in the second half of 2019.
