Quest NetVault Backup 9.0

Quest NetVault Backup 9.0: new software for data protection from Quest, integrated with architecture of NetVault Extended Architecture (NetVault XA), with the new user interface and a packet of collective services integrating different technologies of data protection from Quest for simplicity of management. Medium-sized and to the softwares large companies will help to protect data and critical applications in physical and virtual heterogeneous mediums. Cross-platform support of NetVault includes Windows Server 2012 and Novell Open Enterprise Server 11 now. Improvements in Windows Server 2012 Hyper-V also VMware vSphere increased the level of functionality, productivity and scalability. The replication feature optimizing data storage outside the organization and their recovery in case of an unforeseen situation is integrated into the solution for deduplication of NetVault SmartDisk.

2013: integration into Dell DR4100

On October 11, 2013 the corporation Dell declared a full integration of the solution Quest NetVault Backup and Dell DR4100.

Integration of Quest NetVault Backup and Dell DR4100 helps customers to minimize network traffic, to reduce backup time, to achieve the most effective use of space of the disk systems and to protect important data in the different operating systems and applications existing in difficult physical and virtual environments.

New in technology

The solution NetVault Backup uses DR4100 Rapid Data Access technology (RDA) providing deeper level of integration and automation. NetVault holds end-to-end control of all problems of reservation, delegating control of management of storage to DR4100 system.

Sharing of these technologies gave several advantages:

• Faster backup. More dense integration of NetVault and DR4100 by means of RDA leads to significant reduction of time of backup. Test results of ESG Lab using several simultaneous flows showed achievement of speed of backup 7.5 TB per hour.

• Deduplication on the party of a source. The modern technologies of deduplication and compression used in solution DR4100 will help users of NetVault to use deduplication on a source of the backup copy. Such approach minimizes reservation network traffic, allows to reduce dimensions of storage systems, based on different tests, at most by 91%.

• The optimized replication for effective disaster tolerance. Now customers can plan and manage replication and deduplication of data from one DR4100 system on other DR4100 directly from the NetVault Backup console that increases flexibility in case of unforeseen situations or need of data backup of remote offices. NetVault automatically learns about completion of copying and location of replicated copies of data, providing fast recovery.

• The consolidated tape storage. Users of NetVault Backup from now on can reduce costs, replicating reserve data from a set of DR4100 systems and then archiving these consolidated data on the magnetic tape.

2013: NetVault Backup 10 и DR6000

On December 13, 2013 provided to Dell softwares of NetVault Backup 10 and a new storage system of the DR series with support of deduplication of Dell DR6000 designed to help customers to increase performance, to simplify operation and to have ample opportunities of expansion.

NetVault Backup 10 has the updated web interface, considerable ampler opportunities of scaling and close integration with the DR6000 device.

DR6000 is new model in a line of devices of deduplication of Dell of the DR series. It will be on sale in addition to DR4100 model. The new model is characterized by bigger capacity (more than twice), the high speed of work and ampler opportunities of expansion. New features of global management give to administrators an opportunity to manage all DR devices from the single console.

The solutions NetVault Backup 10 and DR6000 will be available for sale in the world market in the first quarter 2014.
