2020: Launch of a drone tractor at the KamAZ plant

On July 20, 2020, it became known about the launch of the KamAZ"" pilotless robot softener at the plant, which received the name "Regina." He moves along given routes, helping workers assemble engines.

According to the Rostec press service, Regina travels from the shipment shop of purchased components and delivers parts to the V8 engine assembly conveyor and to the P6 assembly conveyor. Two big boxes are delivered to each conveyor. During the working hour, the robot performs one full circle.

The robotic device is equipped with lidars and video cameras, thanks to which it moves around the plant, focusing on existing road markings.

In the future, it is planned to use the drone along another route - to transport the gearbox from the TsF KAMA joint venture to the P6 docking line. In August 2020, during the corporate vacation, KamAZ intends to make a separate line of movement with marking and the installation of navigation signs informing that an unmanned vehicle is moving along this trajectory.

At the KamAZ plant, the Regina drone tractor was launched

It is noted that Regina became the second unmanned tractor at KamAZ enterprises: the first works at an automobile plant, making flights from the central warehouse to the interconveyor zone. The cargo handling system of both robots is similar: in the warehouse, an empty big box is installed in a rolling trolley, products are collected in it. This big box trolley is rolled into a trailed element without the use of a loader. According to the laid down program, the robot arrives at a certain point, where the worker rolls the loaded big box to his work position through a pedal, then rolls back the same empty big box and commands the robot to return with empty bar to the warehouse.

According to Dmitry Ageev, Deputy Director of the Project Management Department of the KamAZ Logistics Center, the robots made it possible to make the schedule for the supply of components to work positions more even, avoid line outages and eliminate violations of floor traffic rules.[1]
