Intel Whitley Dual-Socket Server Motherboard Development

On October 19, 2021, the Ricore Group of Companies, a Russian developer and serial computer manufacturer, announced that it had developed a two-socket server computer board based on Intel Whitley, known as LGA4189.

The board supports processors 10nm Ice Lake-SP (3rd Generation Intel Xeon Scalable Processors) chips. According to the information company, Ice Lake SP gives a performance gain of 1.46 times compared to the previous generation. With Intel Deep Learning Boost Technology (Intel DL Boost), you get AI 1.56 times better logic output for image classification than the previous generation.

Intel Whitley assumes the introduction of the LGA4189 socket, which increases the number of memory channels per socket to eight compared to six in the Cascade Lake-SP generation. The platform features the PCI-Express Gen 4.0 bus, with each socket supporting up to 64 PCI-Express Gen 4.0 links connected to the CPU. The processor itself supports up to 8 memory channels that run on ECC RDIMM-enabled DDR4-3200 modules. In total, there are 32 slots for RAM on the Ricore motherboard . The board contains the optimal set of ports for connecting peripherals, has extensive capabilities for configuring PCI-Express slots.

Servers board-based applications can be used in, retail for example, virtual desktop infrastructure VDI intellectual virtualizations IDV desktop or in (). B - for health care analytics, and AI, data machine learning to expand clinical workflows and more accurate diagnosis through improved analysis, automation, and performance improvements.

In industrial systems, board-based servers are used to monitor collected products, detect defects and check quality; in the public sector - deliver improved productivity, security, efficiency, and built-in AI acceleration.

Shipment is planned from the 1st quarter of 2022.

Development of a proprietary motherboard based on the Intel C624

On October 12, 2021, the Ricore group of companies, a Russian developer and serial manufacturer of computing equipment, introduced a proprietary server-computer board - a specialized product of its own design with original dimensions and design. With support for the Intel Xeon Scalable 2 Gen processor and Intel C624-based chipset, the dual-socket product has a flexible set of ports and slots to tailor them to your needs and deliver high server performance . The board cannot be used in a standard server chassis, so Ricore is developing a custom chassis line for it.

The board has 24 slots for RAM with a supported capacity of 6 TB, extensive PCIe slot configuration capabilities, two M.2 slots, 7 network ports: 4 * 1 Gb/s RJ-45, 2 * 10 Gb/s RJ-45, a dedicated 1 Gb/s IPMI control port RJ-45, 3 USB 3.0-ports on the rear panel.

The product provides high performance and flexibility, suitable for solving complex tasks for storing, processing and transferring data. The board is designed for use in servers of large companies, is capable of processing high-intensity client requests, working with databases, local file and terminal services. Such services provide connected clients with their computing resources: processor time, memory, disk space, network services, video and audio processing, connected peripherals.

According to the information company, the development has already been completed, the first prototypes are being tested. The start productions is planned in December 2021 at the plant "" Ricore Electronics in. Arzamas Planned capacity - 30 thousand products per year.

The commercial name of the servers where the board will be used is under study. The order of the fee is available on the Ricore website.

Completing the 2nd Generation Intel Xeon Scalable Motherboard

On September 27, 2021, the Russian manufacturer and developer of sophisticated computing equipment "Ricore" announced the completion of the development of a 2nd generation Intel Xeon Scalable motherboard with 6 PCI-express slots, five of which are PCI Express x16, and one is PCI Express x8. Slots differ in size and speed.

The PCI Express expansion slot (Peripheral component interconnect) allows you to connect peripherals to the board.

The Ricore board is in the EATX form factor. 16 slots are available for DDR4-2933 memory modules with up to 2 TB of RAM, m2 disk. The board has 5 USB 3.0 connectors, 2x1Gb ports (one dedicated BMC port) and an AST2500 BMC control chip.

According to the company, the board will be used in servers with a height from 1U to 4U of its own development "Ricor," in specialized solutions with GPU accelerators manufactured by Nvidia Tesla family and will complement the line of mid-tier servers.

The product is suitable for use in monitoring, storage, virtualization servers; databases as well as file servers.
