2023: Upgrading the Neurointerface

ROBBO has modernized its equipment: a quadcopter and a neurointerface. The devices replaced chips and some other electronic components, after which their characteristics became better. The neurointerface has decreased the mass of the device, and the quadcopter has increased power. The company announced this on November 13, 2023.

The chips were needed to improve the performance of the devices, as well as due to the discontinuation of the chips that the company used earlier and the termination of their supply to Russia.

The selection of electronic components and tracing was also carried out by ROBBO specialists. An experimental batch of modernized equipment was produced at the Resonance plant.

The neuro-interface replaced the bluetooth module SKB501 with a nRF52832 from Nordic Semiconductor with bluetooth v 5.4 and BLE support. This made it possible to increase the operating time of the device by reducing power consumption. The expensive and redundant ADS1299 for the current use scenarios of the ADC was replaced by a TGAT1-L64 chip from Neurosky, which was developed specifically for such equipment.

As a result of these changes and routing, ROBBO managed to reduce the number of printed circuit boards in the device from four to two and thus reduce its mass.

In the quadcopter there was a replacement of USB Radio Dongle the NRF24LU1P chip on much more powerful nRF52840 about Cortex-M4 working at frequency of 64 MHz of 1 MB a flash memory and about 256 CBs of random access memory. A button was also added for convenient and quick entry into bootloader mode in order to update and modify the software. The installation of a modern RGB LED allowed the company to receive more detailed information about the state of the device.

We try to ensure that the company's equipment fully meets all consumer expectations. All components, from hardware and software to operating procedures, we provide a high level of quality. Yes, it takes a lot of effort and a large staff of engineers, but this is the only way to adhere to modern approaches in the development of solutions for educational organizations, "said Pavel Frolov, founder and producer of ROBBO.
