2022: Radar announcement
May 20, 2022 it became known about the creation in Russia of a multifunctional radar station (radar), capable of detecting small drones at a distance of more than 1000 m, including at ultra-low altitudes. The system was developed by the Rybinsk Instrument Plant, which is part of the Roselectronics holding.
According to the press service of Rostec (Roselectronics is part of this state corporation), the principle of operation of the new radar is based on the use of the Doppler effect and the processing of signals from moving objects or their moving parts. The equipment was created on the domestic element base, weighs about 5 kg and can be used as a wearable device.
The station is capable of rotating screws to detect stealthy UAVs in hang mode. In addition, the device can be used to search for ground objects, the radar is able to detect a car at a distance of more than 10 km.
According to Andrei Komogortsev, General Director of the Rybinsk Instrument Making Plant, the main task of the new radar station is to search for low-flying small-sized air targets and other threats, for example, ground-based robotic systems. The radar can simultaneously accompany up to 32 targets, as well as work together with other radar monitoring systems. By May 20, 2022, the station passed preliminary tests. The timing of its launch on the market is not called.
As noted by Andrei Komogortsev, the development of unmanned technologies tightens safety requirements at industrial, infrastructure and other critical facilities. In addition to the radar presented, Rostec companies are developing other means of combating unmanned aerial vehicles. Among them are the Rat multifunctional mobile complex with a laser destruction system, the Attack-DBS civil UAV countermeasure complex, and electromagnetic guns.[1]
