Rostelecom: PaaS Videoserver based on VideoMost

On August 30, 2018 the SPIRIT company announced that it signed with Rostelecom company the contract based on which Rostelecom began sales of service of PaaS (Platform as a Service) Videoserver based on the product VIDEOCONFERENCING VideoMost to the state and corporate customers.

According to the company, PaaS-service Videoserver gives to customers the chance to own the servers placed in DPC Rostelecom on which the VideoMost software product, with monthly payment and tough SLA from Rostelecom which will be responsible for service of these hardware servers, together with software is preset. The PaaS-service Videoserver gives to customers the chance to integrate the VIDEOCONFERENCING equipment which was earlier purchased by them and telephony together with cloud VKS service into single communications system.

Using a cloud service Videoserver clients of Rostelecom can integrate earlier purchased equipment for studios of a videokonferensvyaza, stationary phones, working computers and smartphones of employees in the single protected communications system. Videoserver can be available, both from the Internet, and from a corporate data network of the client. At the same time the organization of service and its technical maintenance provides Rostelecom, allowing clients to save on acquisition of the equipment and the software and also on services IT of specialists. As it was reported, the contract is continuation of strategic partnership SPIRIT and Rostelecom which began in 2012. Within 6 years Rostelecom offers domestic enterprises a cloud service of "Web conference" on the basis of the program VideoMost server under own brand. All segments of the market use service: from state institutions and large holdings to the small SMB-companies, it is connected by regional authorities, educational, medical institutions, private business, etc.

The domestic program VideoMost server (the product is in the state registry of software Ministries of Digital Development) solves a problem of import substitution and addition foreign hardware VKS of solutions from Cisco Polycom Avaya Huawei , etc. and also Microsoft Skype. VideoMost supports a set of the international standards of communication and popular open protocols, including H.323, H.239 SIP, BFCP H.264, G.7xx XMPP, WebRTC and dr that allows to share VideoMost, in one organization, in one conference, with VKS the products of foreign producers which were already purchased the Russian by the organizations earlier including Microsoft Skype.

The customers using earlier purchased VIDEOCONFERENCING equipment can use PaaS-service Rostelecom Videoserver which for August 30 allows:

• Connect conference rooms, studios of telepresence, jobs of heads with hardware VKS in a single system of business communications;
• Be integrated with the office telephony for a hybrid video audio conference;
• Involve the services of the directory Active Directory/LDAP;
• Use the protected VPN channels;
• By means of the developed API to add video communication to the information systems and business processes of already existing structure, implementing, thus, the concept of WCC (Workstream Communications & Collaboration).

According to representatives of the company, PaaS-service meets to all range of requirements to a modern corporate system of a video conferencing for the state and commercial organizations, in particular not only a functional and technical, but also business case: due to transfer of CAPEX in OPEX and periodical payments. I.e. servers should not be bought, and it is possible to pay service monthly.
